My YFZ Pics and a few questions

I just got a 04 YFZ with a YZ426F swapped in.

First off, what are the pros and cons for going this route? I was kind of turned off by the swap at first but it looks good and runs really well.

Second, The bike has nothing electrical. I am wanting to go back to having lights. What would I need to purchase and/or is it even possible with this engine swap?

Third, The bike runs great. But it will not Idle at all. Where should I start to figure this out? I know nothing about carbs besides the basic principles of carburation. But I like to think I am pretty mechanically inclined. Just need some pointers

Finally, it seems like the bike runs out of gear. What size are the stock sprockets? I just want to get a starting point. Think Im going to drop 2 teeth in the back. It has a 40t on t now. I have a set of 18's on back.

looks good, but sounds like the motor got throw in their half *** if it aint rnning right.

sounds like you may need to mess with the air and fuel screws on the carb to work on that idle. if that isn;t it, check the plug, or clean out your carb.
as for electrical, if there are no wires at all, and they were taken off, get yourself either a wiring harness from a stealership, or run it ghetto and hook them up to the switch and battery with home depot wire.
lastly, i dont know what the stock gearing is, easy to find. if it is running out of gear with that motor, than definatly change the sprockets!

Well, someone on Bluetraxx said it might be the TORS system. I just went out and looked at the bike and there arent any wires going to the throttle. So I amthinking that the guy that did the swap deleted the TORS and that might be my problem. I dont want to mess with the carb too much. It runs flawlessly everywhere but idle.

I'm confused on why someone would do this swap...?

Posted by: stjoetalon

Me too. But it sure does run good. NO Problem out running stockish 450's on the straights.

Lol, that's all that matters then. I'm still wanting to drop in a ktm engine in one of the new chassis 450 or 525.

I bet he blew up the 450 motor so he came by a good deal on this 426 motor so he put it in
