What kind of things have u guyz experienced that we shouldnt do to the R????

I found out that we should never mix that cheap Polaris 2 stroke mixing oil with the R, the R lacks power and it doesnt mix to well with gas and it makes an exhaust leak worse!! Use the expensive racing stuff!!! Its all worth it!!

Kool, I plan on not putting any graphics on mine!! Its bored and has other extras but; Im going to get it jetted in a couple of months! Its fast, but than again, all R's are Fast!!LOL! I like my quad looking all natural, bcuz it makes it unique, theres not very many R's that have the plain original plastics!~~I luv my R~~~!!!!

my R is slow.

Posted by: Jeannie250R

How? Is it broken??JK

Posted by: Iliketogofast

Must be.

I have a don't: Don't ever go anywhere with your gas off. This goes for any two-stroke. You always need to check to make sure it is on, and also make sure you never ever run out while riding.

Because two-stroke cylinders get their lubrication from the fuel they burn, if you run out it is like running a four-poke without any oil, which is very dangerous especially when you are really moving.

I know about this first hand... My carb used to leak when the gas was on and it wasn't running, so I had it turned off and I was talking to this Banshee dude. Of course he started talkin **** like they always do, so I told him to put down or shut up.

So I started it up and was almost to the tree we agreed upon as the finish, and it just started bogging down. I finished the race and won, but when I pulled the plug (I thought it was fouled) The ground strap was smashed in.

I took it apart on the scene and discovered a pinky-sized hole on the exhaust side of the piston. It really hurt bad, cause it was a stock bore original 250R cylinder

Still beat that P.O.S. 'Shee, though.

While that's good advice, you should always turn on your fuel before riding, I don't really think it's dangerous as you suggest.

True, running without oil and lube would be a real problem, but you CAN'T rev after you run out of fuel. The only movement at all will be the time it takes for the engine to wind down, which can't be more than a few seconds. You'll easily have enough residue in the engine that a few seconds won't damage anything.

Your engine problems were not because of lack of oil.

he's not the 1st person i know of that had this happen... my buddy did the same thing, only he had his fuel on and just ran out of gas, switched it over to reserve, kept going and burnt a piston cuz it ran out before he got back to camp... i dunno, maybe its cuz people keep 'em pinned when they start bogging or somn... me personally, at the 1st sign of anything not being right on my bike, i pull over and go over everything...
