ASV C5 lever: why the cable?

I just bought an ASV C5 lever (not the perch) and they sent me a new cable...

Anyone know why? Should I be able to switch the levers one for one? I did it with the C5 brake lever (although I haven't tried my brakes yet, it looks like it worked fine...)

I recently put on c3 clutch with the stock cable and it is real tight. There is not much play in the cable due to the fact that the aftermarket lever is smaller than stock. They did not send me a cable so I will have to purchase one that is a little longer. If the cable they sent you is longer than your stock, I would change it.
