Posted by: FHKracingZ

Posted by: beave

That's exactly what I was thinking.

Posted by: walker054

which direction is the track being run this year? Are the going up or down Henry Hill? Where is the new uphill double located?

Posted by: JRP

Farr is racing. He finished 2nd in the pro qualifier, and yes the Big Gulp is friggin huge!!!

Posted by: JDMXKID

Does anybody have any results of the Women class(es)?

Posted by: Dupontster

Chad Wienen looks awsome out there this weekend!

Posted by: ATPRacing36

I am in the hotel. There are only 11 in the class. #26 Candace Lee was 1st. #832 was 2nd. and Chastity #303 was 3rd. I was 4th for the whole race until the last half of the last lap I got hung on a berm and ended up 8th. I think #3 Katelynn was 10th and #350 Carrie was 9th but I may have it backwards. The rest were locals and I don't remember their names.

Women's Production was only Heather, Michelle, Jamie L. and Paula, in that order.

Posted by: D-7#61-450r

I'm not sure on the true distance of big gulp, but its alot bigger than in previous years. All the jumps are bigger with a whoops section after the spectators tabletop. I heard early this morning that 731 riders signed up. You could tell also because the place is packed.

From interviews he states that he wants to keep everyone honest.

Sounds like we are headed the way of NASCAR and have tech inspections after the races to keep everyone honest

Posted by: BiG James

it cost money to protest though

Posted by: Cindi

Yes, it costs money to protest. It is all part of racing though. It really is a compliment to the team getting protested and they usually get to go out and have a really good dinner after the race.

It is amazing though how when Suzuki did the protesting it was a big thing like "CANT WIN PROTEST" but this year it is all cool to do so.

Really though at one time they used to tear down 1, 2 or 3 of the top finishers in the pro class and they stopped. If they still did that Natalie, Suzuki or anybody else wouldn't have to protest. To me the ATVA needs to step up and do some tear downs of their own and not like this weekend let them know they will be checking fuel a day before they do it. I also think they should do the tech with rolling through the bar and sound testing as they come off the track not before. Just my 2cents.

Posted by: jason14x

Yeah, buncha... well, I'll just leave it at that. Hopefully Jones' is on his way again. This win should give him a good confidence boost.

I also think that's funny..I can probably go back to last year events and Highlight all of them..

GO GUST AND JONES..

Posted by: Cron

I think since Natalie stated before any racing started he was going to protest two riders is why it is different than last year with Suzuki protesting Natalie.

Posted by: Cindi

Both Natalie and Suzuki had the same reason for the protests. To keep everyone legal. I think the difference is Suzuki and Honda. When Honda does something it is ok but when Suzuki does it look out. When Suzuki got potested several times the year before it was ok and they did not know in advance. When Suzuki protested last year right away poeple got mad. To me a protest is a protest for what ever reason. It is a compliment to the team getting protested. To me the only reason you should get mad is if you arn't leagal. Yes, it does take time to do it but like I said the team can go out and have a great dinner. Suzuki got protested for helmets, shoes and a lot of other stupid things but they just laughed it off. It is called keeping people honest. I hope there is a protest EVERY race. It will keep people leagal at all times. Natalie did what needed to be done just as Suzuki did last year.

Just my 2cents

Posted by: LT80

Excellent reply Cindi!

1998~~Danville TT..I protested Susan Parkers motor. All the peanut gallery was in an uproar. EXCEPT the Parkers and I. I went up to them and explained that I was protesting and that if I loose I hope we could all be friends. We all shook hands.
Durring the measuring, it was obvious that it was legal. A big wig said "someones going to be embarrassed". I said "well it isn't going to be me! The ones embarrased will be the big name motor builders that just got beat by a nobody motor".
Kevin at Lost Creek Cycles joked with me after that. "Thanks Jack, I bought new lawn chairs with your money". LMAO
I had heard rumors of the motor being illegal. Instead of crying about it and talking behind ppls back, I put the money up for a protest.
Protests are good..Period!
If only polititians and promotors could be protested!!

Posted by: BiG James

protests are a waist of time and make the person look bad.. your basically telling the person "you cant be faster than me unless your cheating", by protesting them..he if your rich and want to waist money go ahead... but i think it takes to much time and it is a really inmature action

Everyone will have their own opinion on this issue, but I feel there is no need to belittle a person just because they decide to protest another rider. Protesting is part of racing, and it happens all the time, but when it is in the Pro Class, it makes the news.

It is a great way to keep everyone honest, which keeps a level playing field for all participants.

just think, if the cry babies last year had only had the nutz and money to protest YOUR stock Z400, we could have gone on and had a season without a boat load of rumors.....

ofcourse some like to have the turmoil and the BS instead of nutting up and making it an official protest. maybe they wanted to have people think things were not kosher instead of being proved they were wrong.

Foley, you race another stock class race and i will protest you just for the fun of it

Posted by: Atkins

Harlen's right. Protesting dispells rumors and keeps the races honest. You should all feel lucky that checking to see if a fellow racer is in the hands of the racers, not in the hands of the officials.

Imagine how frustrating it would be if you highly suspected someone of cheating, but couldnt convince the officials to check the person's engine?

Good Point, I actually wish people did check my Z400 last year because even the jetting was stock, and they could have also looked for my secret GPS for track shortcuts guidance that I was constantly being accused of without any proof from videos or photos.

I guess they just couldn't believe a Stock Z400 could go that fast through the woods especially with a heavyweight photographer behind the bars.

Now that is FUNNY!!

Posted by: LT80

Big James, I really do respect your opinion but tell me something please.
If your racing someone and it's obvious that they had something illegal on their machine you would not protest? Just let a lousy cheater get away with it PLUS let him come back and do it again at the next race?
Personnaly I think your much smarter than that.
Some locals have "run what ya brung" rules.
We are talking about the premere racing series of the world here, not the local scene.
I do agree that SOME protests are not called for IE:Last year a 50cc class parent. 8 separate protests on one machine. At $50 for 7 of them and $150 for the fuel protest, it was a rediculous amount. Especially after all was found legal. BUT,,,,,,
The protester went home satisfied and the protestee went home with a thick wallet. Neither complained.
