Hello out there,
I am interested in adding 4th. gear to my sons raptor 80. I have heard it can be done using factory parts, as the older model 80cc quads, like the badger, had 4th. gear and used the same engine/transmission. Does anyone know anything about this?
I wonder if yamaha deleted the fourth gear & related parts on the the newer ones, or if the parts are in there, and they just have something in the trans. or shifter that keeps you from getting fourth gear? My son is always over-reving that poor little engine in 3rd. gear!

YOU DON'T NEED 4TH GEAR YOU NEED A BETTER QUAD I WOULD SUGGEST A KASEA OR HONDA TRX 90.

however, information, not your opinion is what I am looking for!
My son dearly loves his raptor, and has logged hundreds of trail miles on it.
I am shure that there must be someone out there who can HELP me with this project.

look up yamahas web site. Look in the parts area they will have a exploded view of both. this may help. Also check out the part numbers to see if they are the same. Im guessing the changes where made because the newer mini it heavyer and the older 4 speed was to weak. Just my 2 cents. hope this helps.

The old ones were SICK! My family still has a 90' Moto 4 w/ fourth gear and we have had no problems with the tranny. It still runs today.

Id you dont already have any mods done I would look into getting a pipe and a rev box ..
it doesnt make a huge difference but it does in crease the top speeed..
there is a website that sells raptor 80 parts..
i belive it is called raptor80racing.com

Heres what you need,You need a shift shaft from a moto4 and a 4th PINION gear from the moto 4 also,Thats it

That is the Blaster front-end correct I have seen a few nice job, looks like the 350 with that kit. By the way I have a blaster that was hacked on with a pretty good front-end, open to offers. My buddy welded a Honda motor in it and cut out the stock motor mounts. Let me know?

Threadstarter, I have a whole 4 speed motor lying in my garage. Its missing a couple of parts, but the transmission is complete. I think it needs a piston and a stator to run. Would be a great parts motor.
