This guide will show you how to change your engine oil the best I can describe. If there are any questions about this then please feel free to ask. I will do more reviews like this one if I receive good feedback on it. Please ask my permission if you wish to use any of the images: Jumbo757.mike@hotmail.com & here it is:

Supplies...to change your oil you will need to have on hand

1. appox. 0.82 US quarts of the oil you plan to use
2. funnel so you dont spill/ waste oil
3. oil fiter (a CRF450r oil filter will work as well
4. 8mm socket to remove oil filter cover
5. 12mm socketto remove drain plug under engine
6. drain pan or bucket to catch old oil

First you will want to let your TRX450r warm up for about 3 minutes & just let it idle & let the oil thin up so it can drain really easily & completely

Next we will place the pan under the drain plug & remove the black oil cap & remove the drain plug with our 12mm socket...be careful for the warm oil....let the oil completely drain out into the pan & put the drain plug back in under the engine.

Now we will remove the oil filter. To do this get your 8mm socket out & remove the 2 bolts holding it ono the side of the engine. After you remove this little cover you will see the filter as it may pop out. Remember how you took it out so you can put your new one back in the same way (rubber piece on the outside & place the spring back onto the little thing sticking out in there) . This is very important. Now that you have your oil filter out put the spring back in the engine & reinstall your new oil filter the same way you took out your old one. Recycle your old oil filter with the oil you have in your drain pan at a local super walmart. (please do not dump as it kills wildlife & gives atv's a bad reputation & if caught can be fined).

Now make sure your drain plug is under your engine & not in your pocket or something (like I have done before) & proceed to add your oil & watch the glass oil checker thing & fill the engine up a little less then the full line. Reinstall black oil cap & let idle for 20 seconds & cut off. Look at the glass piece again for your oil & if needed, fill again. Always check your oil on this machine before you ride because it is known to use a little oil while you ride. This is normal & dont be alarmed unless you see smoke coming from exhaust. Ride hard & ride safe.
