Hi i was just wondering if the gear shift has to be raised for accommodating mx boots? Thanks in advance.

yes it does. the stock position is very very low, unless you like riding with your foot pointed downward. the only problem i had with raising mine was that it hit the plastic chain guard while shifting up. i ended up buying a pro design case saver and ditching the stock one and the plastic chain guard. before i bought the new case saver tho, i just took some snips and trimmed the plastic one, worked fine.
