Just get a Battery Tender and keep it hooked up when you're not riding and you'll be problem free.

I had my 06 for about 3 months and then I started havin problems with the battery.Sometimes it would hold a charge and then other times it wouldnt,I would be ridin down the road and then all of the sudden the battery would go dead.Long story short,I took it to the dealer and they said the battery went bad,and gave me this sh** about it sitting on the show room floor for so long blah blah, weather its true or not I dont know. But they ended up giving me a new battery cause it has a 6month warranty on it.

Seems strange that the 05/06 are 50/50 on the problems, I wonder what they changed from the 99-04... oh well

on my 99 the batery would always be dead then I put a multimeter on it check the voltage and it was not charging wen the bike was running so I changed the voltage regulator and since then I never had any problems.

The stock battery in my '99 400ex just went bad this winter...
The stock battery in my '00 300ex is still working fine...
so I don't consider that as a problem...

i have a Q for those of u with battery problems, do u guys always have your lights on when u ride(day or night) and when u stop to take a break from riding do you turn the key off ?
Posted by: tar
no i dont ride during the day with my lights on because there is no point and yes i turn my key off when i take a brake once again there is no point to leave it on

I didn't have a "battery" problem but when my regulator/rectifyer went out, the battery stopped charging. Once i replaced that and the battery it ran better.

I have one of the newest (or oldest I guess you could say now) 2005's there are and no problems. I am in school, it would sit 3 weeks in 10-0 degree weather and start right up everytime. No problems yet....15 months old.
Knock on wood....

I have just installed an alluminum air box on my 04 400ex and I have been having problems with the grounds. I know there are goin to be problems when you leave the key on or lights on. but other than the ground problems i have been having im ok.
