So I bought an '88 250X for a project. I did a search here to see if a 250R swingarm would bolt up but I can't find any direct answers.
Also do I have to buy one of them Shock relocators if I bolt up 400EX a-arms and shocks? Thanks for any info ...

The swingarm itself will bolt up. It's the rear shock that's an issue. The 250R used a linkage style suspension on the rear, whereas the 250X/300EX uses a no-link suspension. You could more than likely have a 250R swingarm modified by a good machining shop to accept and work with your stock length shock. However, if you do this you will need a new rear shock, as the 250R swingarm is roughly 2.5 inches longer than your stock swingarm.

And yes, you would need a relocation bracket for the 400EX front suspension. However, I personally think that your best bet would be to buy a set of GDH long travel a-arms and get some 400EX length shocks. This setup would handle much better than the 400EX frontend and is very reasonably priced.

just have a set of tabs welded to your frame, then you could run the 250r setup with linkage.i had a 300ex a few yrs back that had a 89 250r swinger and linkage,it looked sweet
