how can i upgrade the suspension on my 86 trx 250r. i heard you can get 450r shocks and they innerchange perfectly. and about the a arms, should i go longer or just newer.....please advise.....thanks

go longer, and try and find some aftermarket shocks

The 450r stock shocks will have good valving for +2 a arms I think. But the 450r shocks will also raise your ride hight about an inch. They are an upgrade from your stock shocks, but your best bet is to go aftermarket.

it depends on what type of riding you do. if you ride strictly trails i wouldnt go any wider. if you ride mx or in open pits i would go with +2 or even +3 if you dont really ride trails. as for the 450R shocks i havent ridden them on a 250 but i would spend some money and get something valved for your style and weight.

Hey I got a set of 450R shocks on My 89 R Got them dirt cheap off ebay they bolt up just barely lenght wise onto stock a arms... Huge Ride improvment over the stock ones and brakings better too (tires are on the ground more oftten). You have to point the shock rezivors to the front to avoid the rad. I can post some photos if you like.

Overall if you can get them cheap and dont have the cash for good aftermarket it defentely worth it....16 years better tecnology cant go wrong

Ive got 450r shocks on mine with +3+1 aarms and there a huge improvemetn over stock. There better than the works shocks. Also you dont have to point the resevoirs forward so they clear the radiator. Or at least I didnt have to

Yea I had to put mine on with the res forward because of my rad scoops....
