COW MOUNTAIN AND ELK MOUNTAIN.
PLUS ALL THE PRIVATE ROADS I HAVEN'T BEEN KICKED OUT OF YET, IT'S NICE TO LIVE IN A RURAL AREA.
Posted by: Coolidge
I live in the desert, so it takes about 10min. to get to a good riding spot.
Otherwise, for camping/riding, its Dove Springs/Jawbone Cyn., Calif City, Gorman/Hungry Valley. Never been to Glamis or Dumont. Want to though.
Remember, its only illegal if you get caught.

Im in So Cal too and am pretty new to Quads (I have a Honda TRX450er) and have never been to Glamis. Where is it exactly?
Can you camp/drive motorhomes there w/the sand?
Rode Dove Springs again this past weekend, may go again this weekend

Glamis is down buy the border. I live in the IE and I take the 10E to the 86S all the way down. Motorhomes are cool but you have to watch it because of the sand, still plenty of them out there. Glamis is nice, I don't know where else theres half a million people
riding at once on a big weekend and still plenty of room to ride.
Posted by: Coolidge
Thanks bro. Gonna get some sand paddles and get out there soon. Rode DoveSprings last weekend, and will be riding Cal City this weekend. Hope you all get a ride in this weekend too. And...see you @ Glamis ~Guy

Had a XLNT ride Fri/Sat in Cal City the past Easter weekend. I had never been, but WILL be going back soon. Perfect place to take the whole Familia. Trails vary from beginner, to HOLY ****!
To any So Cal desert rider go for a ride out this way (Mojave) please post up, If I gots the free time, I'm always down for a desert ride. L8~Guy

We ride in Dumont, Pismo, Wagon Wheel, and some oilfield dirt/hills in a town close by called Taft. Will visit Glamis someday but for now we are content with Dumont (it's closer).

Hey Wilkin, any wide open desert trails around or close to Reno that you can ride quads on besides sand mountain ?

Everywhere. So many that I can't even give you a specific location.
It's like asking "Hey, where can I buy a gallon of milk?" There's a grocery store a mile away, a gas station just 100 yards down the road, and another a half mile beyond that, and and and.... It's almost impossible to give you a specific answer because you can buy a gallon of milk ANYWHERE.
There are so many riding areas it's ridiculous. So many that I never have to travel more than 20 miles from my house, so I rarely ever go beyond that simply because I don't NEED to.
If you want an idea of what I'm talking about, pick up the current (March) issue of Dirtwheels. It has an article about riding areas in Nevada, you'll see quite a few, and it only mentions the bigger areas. There are lots of smaller and less-populated areas between.
