I asked the question about the back firing and i wanted to know if it hurts the quad if its not jetted properly.......

it will hurt it if it is jetted too lean. the previous owner of mine didnt jet it for the pipe and filter and he burnt up the rings. im not sure if being rich hurts teh motor other than i think less performance and a little bit of backfiring

Too rich will cause fouled plugs and carbon buildup. If it get's too bad, the carbon buildup can keep your valves from closing all the way, and burn up your valves.
Excess carbon isn't all that great on your piston rings either.
