Full system or slip on

Looking at getting a pipe for my 05 400EX. I know everyone has their opinions on which pipe is the "best". My question is should I get a whole system or just a slip on. How much more power or top end do I get from getting the whole system?

i would get a full system if you planned on doing more mods later, if you plan to just pipe it and leave it alone, a slip on would suffice

Save money and get the full system you wont regret it.

More engine mods are doubtful. Just fun trail riding, not serious racing..... yet.

i have been told by some guys that say if the bike is stock a slip on provides better performance than a full.

I just took off my HMF full system and KN filter, and replaced it with the stock filter and PC T4 slipon. The bike feels like it has more torque on the bottom end now, but it is lacking a little on top. Granted, the header had a leak, but that should be no excuse. The HMF was a top end pipe I will give it that. but I am very impressed with this slipon and the power it has. Just my opinion...

What he said ^^^ If you are going to leave the engine alone internally, it isn't really worth spending the extra money on a full system. Get a nice slip-on and an air filter (K&N preferably) and you'll be good. It really opens up the bike nicely.
