I'm wanting build a Ktm 525 or Honda 650 quad but not sure what frame to use. I'm torn between a 250r or 400ex. I'v rode 250r's (3 & 4 wheel), T-4 Tecate & currently riding a ATKannondale 450. I love the handling of the R but the quickness of the ATK. I know the R stuff is going to start becoming harder to find. I talked to Walsh Race Craft yesterday & they said that they have quit making the R chassis. I didn't know how close in geometry or seat hieght the Ex was to the R. Do they make a no link rear for the Ex? **Quick note about the ATK, it's stock motor & is the quickest thing I've sat on! The only thing that's came close to beat it was a modded 660 Raptor, I only got him by tire & 2005 Polaris 500 that was close also. I've ran modded KFX 700 (ruined his day), 05' 450r, modded 400ex, stock 660 Raptor, Banshee & KX250. When my brother rode my 89' KX250, it all depened on who got wholeshot.

Well the motors you mentioned won't fit in a stock R frame. Try calling lonestar, I believe they still make a CRF / 250r chassis. You will have to make new motor mounts though. The KTM and the honda 650 are just too tall to fit in a stock R frame. The CRF frame is based on 250r geometry, but it is taller to accept a 4 stroke motor. Some peopel say that the 400 is based on 250r geo. but I disagree. Personally I hate the way 400's sit/ handle, but thats just me....

actually..u can fit a ktm 525 in the 250 geometry frame. My local metal fab shop did it to mine. I had a leager 250r narrow front end frame. HERES a pic of when it jus came outta the shop! hardest part is the exhaust, intake, and collibng system. Exhaust was custom done by TC and he recommended me to the 400ex intake. if u want more pics on here let me know. GOOD LUCK

I know it's not a Honda, but I had my predator fitted for a KTM Motor. I'm in the final stages of putting her together now. You can buy all that's needed to do it yourself for a decent price.

Wish I had thought about the conversion when I didn't have a motor for my 250R.
Not that I'm a wannabe or anything... but I'll be mounting 250R plastic on her soon. I'm trying to replicate the Walsh KTM Quads. I've always dreamed about having one of them. Just don't have the cash
