what would be a better bore for the ex. will it still be reliable and how much are they both

The 426 will be a little stronger of an engine. Both are pretty reliable, but the 416 will probably be slightly better for that... nothing really measurable though if you build the 426 nicely. Both cost about the same... it just depends on what you are WILLING to put in that makes the difference.

If you plan in keeping it forever, get the 416 like I did 5 years ago. Now I am upgrading to a 426 with out needing to re-sleeve.

if you search, there are countless threads on this very topic. it comes down to opinion. IMO, you cant beat a 426 for all around. it is the best of both worlds. power and torque like a 440 but revs like a 416. i say go with the 426, but also search and see otehr peoples opinions on the subject.

i would go with the 416, u can always go bigger, and the 416 is a little more reliable.

Put rhe 440 in with a 180 main jet and a 42 pilot iv had mine in for 2 years now and have had no problems.
