The banshee IS faster stock. I own one of each same year and i can definately feel the differance. Slap pipes on the Z and banshee and the Shee will eat the **** out of the Z.

thas kind of funny yea the Banshee will smoke a Z if both have mods but STOCK vs. STOCK i think the Z can take on the Banshee i know this why? because when i went to San Felipe down in Baja i raced plenty of stock Banshee's wit my bro's 2005 Z and nobody on the stock banshees beat me but when it got down to the banshees with mods then woah thats a whole different story cause i got the S*** kicked out of me and ya my bro;s Z is all STOCK ,but thats me I think im good competition but i dunno thas what ive been told

will thts what ive done on a 2005 ltz 400 stock i called out a guy on a stock banshee and we lined up on the sand and we raced and the winner was me and i talked to the guy and he told me that supposedly he does a lil bit of track racng at the elsinore track but oh well i came out on top oh and we both didnt use paddles we jus went stock for stock everything and the Z can and in some cases will come out on top against a stock banshee if there are any problems with this then maybe we can solve it hahahahahaha

Well, here's the thing...... alot comes down to rider ability - if the Banshee missed a shift, the guy didn't keep it on the pipe, he got too much wheelspin off the line, etc. it's possible he did lose.
The Shee weighs 386lbs, the Z400 is 372. The Shee definitely has more power - it's only 50cc smaller but it's a 2-stroke twin. So, even though the Shee is heavier, it's power-to-weight ratio is higher. Of course, we haven't factored rider weight into the equation yet either.......soooooo, given all things being equal (rider weight & ability, tires, track conditions, etc.), it seems difficult to believe that the Z400 would win.

well thats great piped shees will beat 450's but im talking about stock shees vs. stock Z's in the sand just to let everyone know haha but ya the tires on the Z are perfect for sand compared to the shee but what am i to say that a piped shee vz. a modified Z will win ive never been in that situation but what ive seen the shee will ofcourse win and smoke the Z

its so off to compair stock to stock when almost no one leaves them that way. as soon as you can afford it everyone puts a pipe and filter and jet. the banshee and z400 are sport quads and I have only seen one banshee in the last 5 years that didnt have pipes. if you do this to both(pipe and filter/jet) and on sand ? anyone on a z400 that beats a banshee is totally lucky, its also hard to believe that it was only one race, we always run best of 3 just so if one of you get a bad start or miss a gear etc. and eliminates the "one time at band camp". And im totally unbias I ride red !

well what the hell this has gone off topic allready so here I go.
a buddy has a shee stock with fatty pipes that is all, another has a 250r with esr310cc mx port fully built another friend has a rappy bone stock. when I had my 400ex we draged all four over and over. The shee with pipes is the king of drags he can toy with any of the three that I have mentioned. This year I am building a 450r with 11.5 je and a falicon crank I will try but I doubt that I can beet the shee. bottom line they are the king of the drags. as for the esr 310 I will smoke him. we had a quick race before winter tear down and I can walk away any time I want.

man, your post is so ignorant that i can barely respond to it... it is one of the worst cases of differenes in rider ability that i have ever heard of... that or the worst case of engine building and tuning...
yes banshees are quick, but just with pipes you gotta be kidding me that it will beat a worked 310 R. also, your 450 should beat the banshee as well. that banshee rider must be 10X better rider than you are.
i have owned a stock banshee with just pipes, a pretty worked banshee, a 250r that i have taken from bone stock to piped to 265pv to a very aggressively ported 265...

It may be a case of rider ability but I have rode both the shee and the 310R and the R just dosn't compare to the pull of that shee. Now that said I was told it had a stock motor other than pipes. To the eye that is what it looked like there are no afftermarket cylinders or any visible mods like cool head but as far as port work I can't be sure.

i read this stuff and laugh!!!hahahaha ,,,,, i have 250r's, 450'r, lt500 zuke (87), o4 shee drag!!!! and ride all the time, and as far as my 27+ years experience of riding thr 450 r is one of the most impressive new quads but my opinion is (VERY EDUCATED) a 450 honda w/hrc will smoke a piped shee, i have seen some 310 r's that were VERY fast and as far as the 500 zuke goes it is fast but my 488 modded 450r will eat it, but if you have a modded shee it will most of the time dominate all drags!!!

a z400 will not take a shee unless it has droped a cylinder. stock banshees make around 37 hp at the wheels. z400 are in the 25 wheel hp range. someone said they had beat a banshee in sand with dirt tires...... this is like ice racing with m/t's on a banshee. my shee with 22x11x8 hauler extreme's spin hard out of the hole. i couldent imagine dirt tires. your living in dreamland if you think a z could take a shee.

the ltr is not really that fast though. i run dunes so that might have something to do with it. but, in alot of cases yfzs and 450rs were pulling on the new "bad" machine. i was not impressed with it.

a stock banshee is not too fast either, it comes so choked up from the factory.
I rode my friends 05 banshee at little sahara and it was ok but nothing that would get you excited
(not enough to hang with the new 450's)
my 250r with pipe and filter was getting the best of him.
now put some pipes on her and do a little porting with some reeds and jetting and WOW, not even the same ride.
the power band on a stock shee comes on like a cool breeze.
with a few mods it turns that sucker into a tornado.
one of my other friends has a 2000 shee that pulls on my 06 hrc 450r.

from what i could tell the ltr's were unpluged and reflashed. still, piped 450r's were eating em up. shure banshees are not fast off the showroom floor. like you said they are very restricted like most machines. it just takes very little $ to make em literaly untouchable by anything other than another shee. in the sand that is. but thats all i ride so i dont care about anything else.

Stock for Stock. The banshee no doubt. A twin 350cc 2 stroke against a 400cc 4 stroke. Everybody knows you can get more power out of a 2 stroke with less displacement then a 4 stroke. It takes a 250cc 4stroke to compete with a lil 125cc 2stroke. I like both bikes though.

I have the Banshee Toomey exhaust, My neighbor the Z400 Trinity exhaust. Both stock & piped without airbox. Without a question the Banshee will wear the crown everytime. Step it down to stock & it's the same outcome.

stock for stock, the raptor and banshee are actually pretty close... depending on the incline of the hill at the dunes, they trade off... on some hills the banshee is faster, and on others the raptor is faster...
now obviously with a little work the banshee will blow it out of the water, but stock for stock...

i just brought my shee back to bone stock and wow i forgot how slow stock machines are, i had it drag ported, piped, cool head, reeds, card etc... but stock anything just isnt fast, that goes for raptors 450s and banshees
