what modifications would it take for a predator to beat a 450, a 450 with a pipe and a 450 with no lid, pipe, cam mod?
Thanks

a good rider

when you say "beat", do you mean in an MX course, XC course, drag, or what?
in a drag, you will need a PERFECT start, and PERFECT shifts to tie a 450.
for everything else, it is really going to come down to the rider! but do the following things to get faster:
GET A NEW INTAKE (the preds really sucks nuts)
pipe it
Nicholas Carb Mods on www.nicholascycle.com
gearing (depending on your application)
tires (depending on your aplication)
Piston, Cam, port and polish......the list goes on...really, it is going to come down to skill. if you have equal riders, the 450 will win in most applications. How competitive you want to be will then depend on how fat your wallet is
the good thing is, preds cost about $6000 brand new, and 450's are about $7000
that exta grand can go along way into performance!

I was drag racing on dirt today. Me on my stock 05 Troy Lee, another guy on his 05 450r with pipe insert and kn filter, stock Z400 and a 88 250r with a ESR pipe not sure of other mods. I won every drag race.
I still say 100% its the rider on the quad, especially when your talking mx.

I beat 450's all day long by, at least, 7 lenghts. However, the extra 58cc that I have my be why.....

Yeah you need nothing they will beat it all day long i have never been beat by one!!

never been beat by a 450 either. even when i'm riding the 450 and other rider is on my pred.

it must be the rider though. i mean, if both riders are equal, the 450 will still eat the pred (in MX anyways)
i think everything is about equal for GNCC racing, and drag racing comes down to whoever gets the better start, and who weighs less

i agree with you weight and a better start does matter b/c they are preaty close
From what i have seen i can handle honda 405r's all day long but yzf 450's are a different story
