What are some things i would need to do to make a 400ex into a good freestyle quad?
Posted by: Wanksta
nerf bars, suspension would help alot. also maybe a longer steering stem and stronger handle bars. you could also cut your plastics for more room. i dont know if you were talking about wheelies or jumps and tricks but that set up should be good

I was talking about jumping tricks, would i need +3 a arms or would +2 work. What kind of motor mods would i need too.

+1 arms
+2 axle
+2 steering stem
fatbar handle bars
cut of front fenders
nerfbars
ofther suspension
maybe an other swing arm cause the stock one wont hold up
then you can start jumping but you can always put more stuff on there so it wil work even better

What are some ways to keep weight down?
Posted by: Chino886
if you are going to set it up for big air, it is going to be hard to keep the weight down, MX quads are heavier then stock.....
I don't know if that helps, but just my $.02!

you can remove the head light and mount a quad tech hood that saves some weigt but because of the 400ex nog having a kickstart your stuck with that heavy battary and startermotor

you cant just take the headlights out, you have to cut the center of your front fenders in half and modify the fenders for the hood to fit. or you can go through full bore or maier to order front fenders and get the hood.
for the engine parts i would go with a full after market exhaust. they are lighter then the stock system. piston, cam, and rev box, K&N airfilter. those items should boost your confidence on a freestyle jump.
