whats the best cable lube to use Im changing my clutch & throttle cable today ,I think wd 40 wouldnt last long & white lithium grease would just gunk up & dry after a while since there new ide like to get a good soak on them & let the lube run straight through the cable before i install them

I use chain wax and do my cables once a week. Seems OK, but I'm sure that somebody has somthing better than that.

Hey Dave.

Go to Canadian Tire and get yourself some Graphite Spray lubricant. It's like $5.00 a can. It works great for cables because it's a dry lubricant so it wont attract dust.

I read the Clymer Maintenance book for my 86 Honda TRX250R. It recommends using a light oil like SAE10W/30. I installed a new clutch line and thought it may need to be lubricated first, sure enough, it did!

The process invovles disconnecting the line from the lever and pooring oil into the line with the use of a make shift cone. Then pulling the line in and out until the oil begins to drip out of the other end. My clutch is like a warm knife through butter!

If anyone asked you how to lube 20 year old cable lines, just tell them to forget about it! Get new ones! The clutch line is 16 bucks and the gas line is 35 bucks. I just tried lubing my 20 year old gas cable and it just gunked up the 20 years of dirt inside and is harder than crap the engage.

Good luck!

Silkolene Clear Chain Lube, does wonders with a motion pro cable luber.....

I've found that silicone spray works absolutely awesome to lube cables. Makes them just buttery smooth

Amsoil's Heavy Duty MP works great as a chain lube too.

i use the Napa brand "chain and cable" lube. its the best i've used.

spray silicon, use it on a lot of stuff and it never fails, including my cables.
