i just picked up a 87 trx250x for a 14 year old. someone was telling me that 400ex aarms fit on an old one they had and made it 2 inches wider. anyone ever done that? any other tricks that are cheap like that you guys know of? any feedback would be appreciated.

Yeah 400ex a arms, and shocks will work. You will have to get a shock relocator, or make on. You can get one of ebay. The raptor rear shock is another good cheap upgrade. You can only use the 2001 shock, not the ones with the piggyback rezzies.

You don't have to get the spindles. They say it works better with the spindles, but you can run the a arms and shocks with the 250x spindles.
