I love my'88, but I may sell it. I never ride it. I second guess myself all the time and say that this "R" will be valuable again someday. I am the second owner, and the "R" probably has less than twenty hours on it since it was new in '88! The original owner flipped it on his second ride, and then it stayed parked for 11 years until I got a hold of it in '99 for a $1000. The "R" has only quality aftermarket parts and accessories installed as you can see. This is my 10th "R", and it has turned out to be the fastest of them all. But I'm now 52 and prefer my 700 King Quad now. I stay confused. I don't need the money, but I may trade the "R" for another 4wd, like a Rincon or something.

Posted by: Bama250R

My R's brother, my '01 400EX that I recently sold.

Posted by: Bama250R

My first "R", and '87! You should have seen it when I first bought it, what a piece of !!! This pic I took in '93.

Posted by: Bama250R

IMO - the nicest one I have seen on the net! Not mine of course, just a capture.

Posted by: Bama250R

And of course, my favorite model, the factory stock '88 'R

Posted by: BKex

Heres my R's just rebuilt both of them. My 88' that i ride and then a 87 that i built from a bin of parts that im going to be selling. The 87 has fiberglass fenders.

Posted by: BKex

No clue, If your interested pm me and ill give you some specs. on the bike. I havent even took it for a spin since putting it together, still needs a chain and i need to get the rear brakes on and working.

Guys does anyone have a 250R built after the year 2000??
It would be cool to see those fresh ones!!!

Pretty much all of these pics on this forum are new builds.

Posted by: korniev

Well I know pretty much all of them are, however I am looking to see some one making one pretty much from scretch! Like taking a brand new frame, engine and so on and putin it all together u know!!!!

Posted by: Creech52

That would be nice but, it would certainly be expensive. That and the fact OEM parts are starting to be discontinued. I pretty much thought about doing it, but Im just going to do it from scratch with mostly used parts. So far Ive only got a rolling chassis.

Posted by: ESrider

Here is a few of mine just after the build. It still needs shrouds.

what kind of head is that?

Posted by: custom R

Its a PSI- Dial a dome You can adjust the compression with out removing the head so I can run race gas or pump fuel if I cant get race fuel for some reason I just have to loosen up a couple of allen set screws and adjust it where I want it tighten em back down and away I go it works pretty good

Posted by: esr250r86

nice bike custom R.

Posted by: 1deadpresident

Here is my first R that hasn't been an ATC! I recently converted from three to four...LOL I purchased this one from the orginal owner, added a new seat and rear fender, and have started buying some goodies...

If you do keep the stock parts, stock R's are worth more then built ones

Posted by: 1deadpresident

I felt the same way! This thing runs so good already. Those are the original Ohtsu's BTW. The R's are so hard to find here in the south! If you do find one its ragged beyond recognition! I have a couple of pipes and silencers for it, just can't bring myself swap the factory parts out!

Did you say stock 250R? How about this? I just picked it up about a month ago and It too has the original tires on it.

I finally took a photo of it last night after I changed the oil. I did put an AC Racing front bumper on the 250r since the original one was in need of stripping and repainting.

I have been working so much, I have not even taken it for a spin or give it a bath yet.

First photo posted if my baby.

http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w209/michael-Anderson/DSC00643.jpg

Posted by: my88r

not many orginals around where did you find it

Posted by: strnge

In a small farming comunity named Sebastopol, Ca. The town is about a 1 1/2 miles long by 1 1/12 miles wide.

It is about a 100 miles North of where I live.

I got it from a Fireman who never rode it. Are you ready for the best part?

Guess how much I paid for it?

$1200.

It was like I stole it from him.

Oh well, his loss, my gain. He should have researched it, before he put it up for sale.

sweet trike, I bet the 3 wheeler in the background of the second picture is comfy (that seat looks like a couch lol)

Posted by: HondaATC500X

lol thanks, thats my 86 ATC. Its got a hiflite desert seat, IMS 4 gallon fuel tank, few suspension mods. I set it up mostly for riding in the national forest down here where the whoops are insanely rough and the trails are long, you can do 40 miles in a day pretty easily if you don't stop much.

http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s100/HondaATC/DesertR.jpg

Posted by: 450rJam

4 gallons..................now that tank is a tank

my trx250r use to suck so much gas, and with my the stock tank I was always the first one to have to head back from the dunes to refuel.

I wouldnt mind picking up a trike to play on, they are alot of fun.

The plastic came off a 4 stroke project....the front fenders were cut to fit the rad. I'd replace it all if I could find the same graphics kit....but it will do for now.

Thanks Korniev

But can you tell me what is wrong with elka's?

Posted by: 300ex07

What has this sport came to when elka's are'nt good enough for some people.

Posted by: korniev

I just personally hate Elkas. I only had BAD experince with em....
They can probably work well when tuned in a right way.....

Elkas are great shocks, when set up right. The ones i had on my 250r were valved like ****. But i have rode elkas that were revalved by derisi and they were sweet.

Very nice bike ct350. Laegers is the ****!

Here are some pic's of my LSR framed 370 PV. Still need to install the rear blue rings and align the front end, install the skid plate and Powermadd's. Also have a quick change cover that will be going on as well.

^^Nice buddy. What's the tank for above the left rear tire? I'd assume coolant, but that's a long ways from the radiator.

Yes, it is for the overflow, I couldn't find where it mounted up on my LSR frame in the front but it seemed to fit real nice there in the back. I'm not to sure where they normally mount up.

http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb254/fastR202/r2.jpg

Posted by: gearhead11

here is mine. what started out as a buddy's mx bike in the early to mid nineties, is my xc race bike now. it sat up for 13 years, i recently went through the whole thing to get it rideable. its not completely done, but done for now. the motor was built by jimbo eubanks in raleigh, nc. it has a paul turner trx type 6 pipe and a fat boy 2 silencer. i added 450r front shocks that have been revalved, and itp baja rims. the whole thing needs to taken completly done and the frame powdercoated and new a-armsput on, but that will have to wait( baby on the way), for awhile.

ive enjoyed looking at all these r's on this post, im a mechanic at a honda dealership and even we dont see alot. keep posting em

i brought this home a week before his 13th b-day last year and let him ride it twice before tearing it apart for the build. after 10 months of parts buying i started putting things together, having it ready for his 14th b-day on memorial day.

Posted by: jon370r

That’s an ancient chinese secrete, just kidding. It an aluminum LRD Attitude frame and a 400cc snowmobile cylinder that I grafted onto the 250R base. Its a 82mm bore and 76mm stroke.
