Posted by: mic 902

I just love the fact that the event was a month ago and the rider is wearing his body armour he bought in the 1980's over brand new FOX racing gear.

Posted by: TWILES

Here's my 250R I sold in 1999. Its not the best picture but its all I have. I had to scan it onto my computer.

1989 250R
Krank-It motor
Krank-It pipe with LRD Silencer
Laeger a-arms and Swingarm
Ohlins Front Shocks
PEP rebuilt stock rear shock
RPM Stearing stem
DuraBlue X-33 Axle
Durablue bearing carrier
DuraBlue anti-fade locknut
Front and rear Douglas wheels with Champion Beadlock
Riken Radial grooved front tires with Turf Tamer rear
Full Hinson clutch with Hinson modded side case
A lot more minor things.

The frame was really the only thing still Honda other then internal motor parts and the cases and cylinder.

I was getting ready to graduate highschool when I decided to sell it. It needed a wider front-end, set of shock, and the frame was starting to crack(about $4700 for the best). I didn't think I could afford it. I was afraid that it would just fall apart and I wouldn't be able to fix it. If I only knew then what I knew 9 months later when I bought a Banshee. That bike would take off on damp ground from a dead stop in 3rd gear and never bog with a tooth smaller than stock rear sproket or I could just sit there in 3rd and dig til the swingarm was on the ground.

Posted by: TWILES

Planning on firing back up next year with the blue framed SE YFZ.

Posted by: Cr85rRida

Ill get some pics later BUT, After all the b ull **** with the R she was running tonight, even took her up the block

Posted by: TWILES

To take up for the Banshee's on the last page, I NEVER got beat to the first turn by a 250R, 265R, 310R, OR 350R and didn't get beat ofter period. Its the guy giving the bike gas. Not the bike. I got smoked plenty of time on my R with supposedly the same Krank-It motor that Byrd had that year.

sweet bike man, tell me how you like those 450r shocks, I was planning on doing the same thing.

Posted by: EDDYL250R

They are really stiff. I plan on having them revalved and resprung to match my setup. They should be ok for now, being that they are new, they haven't even been broken in yet, plus I only plan to do some play riding for a while.

P.S. if you get a set, I suggest getting +3 a-arms, the extra leverage on the arms should help with the stiffness. I have +2 and the quad currently sits at 46" in the front. It sits a little high, but I appricate the extra ground clearance for trail riding.

EddyL.

thanks...

the R may look taller because the YFZ stock handlebars sit real low... i am going to get a aftermarket clamp for the bars for the YFZ that raises them up about an inch and a half, and it feels and looks real nice...

Yep, shocks are one of the most important things. It will make your quad ride totally different. AND look much better.
Very nice quad though!!

lol.. you have no idea man... me and my brother tried for a couple hours to get that thing tight... Finally we gave up and so i took it to an upolster(sp?) to do it and thats as tight as he could get it... the top should tighten up on its own... my brother has had 3 of the same seat covers and that what he said anywayz.

Posted by: EDDYL250R

Dude.....try another upolster.....he did a horrible job. Here is what it should look like when done properly. (My upolster did say that Nac's cover is crap, but he did a good job getting it on.)

Ya.. but i dont know... see your nacs seat cover is made from a different material, or somethin....

lol... but the good thing is that he didnt charge me anything for it, cuz he knew that it looked bad

Not too hard at all. For the rears, I cut the posts off the seat and put my Legacy seat latch on, also had to notch out the front hooks on the 400ex pan. For the fronts I made a couple brackets, mounted the 450R hood with a couple more brackets and cutout the gas tank cover to use the stock 250R tank. I suggest at least a +2 stem for the 450R hood, that's what mine is.

I dig it. Just needs a new bar pad.
