Plastics will be changed once I get a job. I don't know if I'm gonna keep the bumper or not. The a arms are burgard +2's.

Here is a picture of my first 250R. It is an 88 R with a 350 powervalve engine.
Posted by: barkbuster350r
My second 250R, an 86. I bought it last fall and with the help of you guys was able to rebuild the engine, crank and all, by myself. It has a national ported cylinder, paul turner "race" pipe, 37.3mm carb, v-force reeds, and elka shocks. It dyno'd 44hp, which I was happy with for a trail bike.

And now the two together, including my oldest son in his underwear.

bark buster, how are those lights? I am looking for a set, where did you get them? Aree you running a voltage regulator and are you using the stock on/off switch?
nice bikes everyone!!
Posted by: barkbuster350r
Cr85rRida, I got the lights on ebay for $39, so far I've been real happy with them. My friend has trail tech lights on his 450r and I can't tell any difference. Just make sure if you buy some that they have a good mounting bracket, some look real flimsy. Also mine came with two 50 watt light bulbs which is too much for the stock stator to handle. I just swapped one 50 for a 25 watt that I got at home depot. And yes you have to run a voltage regulator with lights, and i bought a toggle switch and mounted it under the gas tank.

how do you guys like your esr pipes? i bought the trx-6 a few years ago, but i also put a completely new, ported/polished top end on it with a new 88 A/S carb at the same time. i'm making GREAT power, but i can't really say what the pipe did for me.

hey snap-on where did you get the front ressy clamps? I've been keeping an eye out for better prices. usually 90bucks. Curious cause it looks like you are running elka's in the the front too. Do they work good for only being a single clamp for each ressy?
Posted by: snapon
yeah they work well. I got them on ebay, they are East coast ATV clamps. I think I paid about $75 for them.
Posted by: jas250r
thanks

Heres my new 250r I picked up last night. All I can say is WOW! Engine is bored, stroked, ported and polished, ESR, ect ect.. I've been on alot of sport quads and this one is by far the fastest and pulls the hardest.
Also I got JB A arms and a Delton sterring damper to be installed. Tons of extras on it.. LSR axle..ect ect. First 250r I've owned.. and Im keeping it forever.

Nice but nerfs would be good i think!
Posted by: ZSK
I don't really care for nerfs but I'll probably end up having them. I feel more comforable in the woods without them. If it was a full time motocross quad it would be a different case, like them or not I'd have them on.
Posted by: Jeannie250R
I took my nerfs off when i put my pipe on than i took the pic but my ners r back on now.

Lots of nice R's!
Posted by: 86 Quad R
yea i've been tossing the idea around about getting nerfs for my quad aswell but i'm a lil skeptical about how they would do in woods/trail riding. sticks, limbs and other stuff has a tendousy to kik up from the front tires and im concerned about the nets catching things such as that.
but i realize the upside to having the nerfs otherwise.
Posted by: b.lee
my leg acouple years back, just before i got my license.
Silver Lake Sand Dunes in Michigan.
jump off big sand hill, 5th gear pinned, land hard, foot falls off peg, and goes under the rear tire that is hauling ***. rips me off the 400ex, and my leg into the peg.... not fun. 55 stiches. lots of medicine.
http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j145/blee0303/Leg3.jpg
moral of the story, if you jump big or not, you NEED nerf bars, unless you want this to be your leg... luckily i had no broken bones, just a pulled tenden and 55 stiches... (some internal stiches)
it was nasty under the skin there, i puked 10 minutes after it happened, when i was checking out the holes in my leg.

I ride woods/trails, and have only ever had a stick/limb get caught in them twice. Both times it just tore some of the stitching, but never stopped me or anything. I just sewwed it back up when I got home and kept on keepin' on.
The benefits WAAAAY offset the negatives.

DOnt worry about the woods! NErfs are not wider than your axle and arms so it does not hurt using them, in fact nerfs is number one thing to put on an ATV
Posted by: Jeannie250R
yup..yup

The Fourtrax is so I don't go stir crazy in the off season for Outlaw Kart racing. This is where I got my start in building R motors. It uses KTM parts to make a totally stealth true 310. That's my dad getting in for an old timers show at the last race of the season.

Here is mine, two years in the works and it's almost finished. A few minor details to take care of yet, shock covers and a little more pc on some small parts. I am sure it's not what everybody would have done, but I like it.

i'm getting some new rear rims soon dont worry lol

Yes, that is a 450r swingarm on the red one. It took some grinding on the bottom side of the swingarm to clear the bottom linkage mount on the frame and a little on the dust cap bushings.
Other than that I used all the 250r axle and brake components and a long dogbone from 1986 250r swingarm linkage and everything works fine.
