Broke on the first ride

UNBELIEVABLE I went to the dealer and picked up a yellow one. Got home and unloaded it from the trailer. Fired it up and took a couple of easy laps around the house and it shut off. When it finally restarted it idled up & down up & down and runs like Sh*t. The only thing that scared me about the Suzuki was the fuel injection. Hopefully its just a sensor or bad wire and they BETTER warranty it. If I knew it would break in less than 30 minutes I would have bought a TRX450R. Anybody else have a problem with theirs?

No problems so far. I'd say it's a fluke. Most likely a loose wire or something.

I have been working so much overtime I havent even got to ride mine.. It has about 2 min on it so far..lol.. But being that it is a first year model quad I got the 4 year warrenty(sp?)...just in case somthing goes wrong..

Sounds like a faulty airflow sensor. BUT I'm sure I'm wrong. Good luck with the Zook!

Broke mine in by riding it about 3 hours total cruising time around my streets, then took it to glamis and hammered it for four days. Ran great. Doesn't seem to be substansially faster than a stock honda or yamaha but it sure handles better! Other people that rode it said the same and that the power is smoooth. BTW -anyone take off the front plastic yet? Two different metal fastners and two different plastic POS fastners. Trying to be careful & took about 1/2 hr. Needed to take the plastic off to check radiator fluid leaking out overflow res. about 1/2 pt. low.

BOTH clamps on the throttle body were missing the screws and the throttle body came off completely. They missed it Japan. I had less than 30 minutes on the quad. Better check yours.

the yellow ones are lemons

don't say that jersey, picking up my yellow today. And those that don't like suzuki then stay away from this forum.
Or are you watching to see how for out of comptetion you will be once we figure out all that needs to be done, once that Is done you'll be able to know it's an ltr in front of you by the exhaust placement.

I own a Honda and I rode one last weekend, and all I can say is right out of the box, the Zuk will walk by all of them!!!! So don't be so quick to say that Suzuki sucks... You'll find yourself eating your words!!!!

Not sure about the ATV's since I ride dirtbikes but it's common practice to go over your new bike before riding it. Tighten\torque bolts, grease any bearings that need it, go over bike really well. I'm not saying you have an obvious problem but if you haven't gone over the bike it might be a good start. Something could have been loosely connected and riding it caused it to disconnect.

I agree. It's common to see new bikes with loose screws, stuff not plugged in, etc. It's always good practice to give them a once over and make sure everything is tight, and in good working order.
I'm not saying it is your fault either though Ace, they should have been tightened or there for that matter, from the factory.. I've owned quite a few new bikes though, and it seems like it's fairly usual.

I do that before every race/ride.
That much more important when it's new.
However the dealership should have done that. I wouldn't necessiraly blame suzuki if something isn't tightened all the way down on an external connection, I'd blame the dealer for not doing their job. They charged you a setup fee.. you payed for it.

They did not even have the screws in the clamps that hold the throttle body on. Thats ridiculous. It takes close to an hour to get the tank off to check them. It seems like a great quad, but they should pay attention, there is no excuse for the throttle body falling off like that. Anyway I got a upclose look at the fuel injection system. They sure did go all out to centralize and lower all the weight they could, bad part is this thing is a B*TCH to work on anything in the engine area. Sure glad it has Keihin injection and ignition parts and not Mitsubishi(POS). They did a great job on design and engineering on the LTR, just missed a few important things on assembly. Can't wait to get on the MX track.

Not to be a a** or anything but do you think that you could change the title to something a little more nice? Like maybe "Some advice for LTR owners"(check your bolts before you ride?) LOL Thanks, Nick.

haha yea. It was just some loose screws. The Stealership wasnt paying very much attention when they put it together. Just like a few people saying that thier efi lights started coming on.....the dealership didnt put the idiot lights in the right place and switched it with the low fuel light
Ive ridden my ltr for about a total of 10 hours in desert and at glamis. Not one problem at all, and i run it hard.

you come into a suzuki SECTION, open a thread about a SUZUKI (obviously) and then decide to bash? You must be an idiot...
as for my zuki, I have about 3 hours on it, break in time and track time...rides great...handles great...jumps great...so far i havent had a problem, besides my silencery hitting my brake caliper slightly...

The first crop 0f 400EX's (in 98) lost their air filters in the first couple rides for the same reason.
They are all the same upside down in the dark
Posted by: ACEOUTDOOR
Yeah stuff happens. I'm just glad it was minor and I found it. The bike runs good with the CB, lid/baffle off. Looking forward to getting my stabilizer and nerfs and hitting the track hopefully next week.

You corn growers sure are funny. I'll rip it up after they fix my quad. Did Gusty really break the axle?
Posted by: motox450r
yea he did on what i don't know. it definitely wasn't a 20 foot double though. i'm sure he was punishing the machine pretty hard since that's the only way he knows how to ride. still workin on my wifes ltr. gotta have white though! lol

Hopefully you will have a little better luck than I have so far. Are you racing the national in Illinois?
Posted by: motox450r

This sounds like a mistake that Suzuki made not the dealership?? Ace, is this something that the dealer could have reasonably noticed when setting it up. The quad comes mostly put together, the setup guy puts the tires and handlebars and levers on, that's about all.
Posted by: ACEOUTDOOR
They are supposed to to check it on the Pre Delivery Inspection. The mechanics could care less they just wanna go home. The throttle body is buried on this thing though.

I'm not sure.. but if those lights are in the bars.. they come disconnected from the atv. The dealerships install the bars, and often have to hook up the electrical connections. They could have simply hooked the wrong connectors together. Easy mistake.
