Heavy duty studs necessary?

I plan to build a 426ex. Are the heavy duty studs a must? Has anyone logged on some serious hours on a 426 w/o any problems with stock studs?

I would get them why not. They are not that much.

I would, while you have it apart. Better safe then sorry.

I think it all depends on what CR you will be running, if you are going 11:1, I would not worry about it. But if you bump it up any more than that I would seriously consider it.

It also depends on how your stock studs are, if you have over torqued them already, it may be a pulled stud waiting to happen.

Id stay on the safe side and go with them. Like stated earlier, better safe than sorry.

When i converted to a 426 with 11:1 compression,it lasted about a month before i blew a head gasket.when i took it apart i did not even have to unsrew the front stud it just pulled right out.i would highly recommed that you put in HD studs.

I pulled one on my 416 with 10.8:1 compression. It took 3 years to do it but it happened.
