Im thinking of gettin some gecko paddles for the dunes, do they climb and turn good, would you reccomend them

HE11 NO!

Worst choice you could make.

I have no experience with them.
A budy of mine says they are 10 times better then his sand stars. If your wanting a cheap paddle go for it, plus they make a 10 paddle gecko now.

exactly... geckos are horrible

Geckos are not horrible or the worst but it depends on which ones your buying and what type of riding you do in the dunes.

Yeah i was afriad of that, i had sand stars on my 400ex but i dont have the money for sand stars right now since i bought my new yfz, but i think im just gonna go with the GBC straight paddles
Posted by: tar
why don't you just put the sandstars and buy a yamaha rim and mount them on there
but i probably wouldn't go with geckos[dorkos]
Posted by: yfz450f
well thats the thing, i would but i sold them to my bro with my 400

oh

are sand devil's very good?
Posted by: 400EX QUADER
not really... just save a lil extra $ and get sandstars if ya like em....
Posted by: 250r4life
IMO the sand sharks are a pretty good economical tire... if i was going to get a molded other than sandstars, i probably would just go with them
Posted by: DaleJrFan
The only thing the geckos are good for is going in a straight line or up a hill. Go with the Sand Stars, you wont be dissappointed.
Posted by: 400EX QUADER
actually you have it wrong... gecko's are only a play tire and suck on hills. bad hook-up.

your 100% right!! Gecko's are really bad for climbing hills. There a ok tire but you will NEVER see me have a pair. Just my .02$
Posted by: 400EX QUADER
thats why we need to go riding twisted. LOL you goin to the sld cleanup? ya better!
Posted by: 250r4life
thats why geckos suck so bad- they arent light weight and dont hook up like a straight hauler, and they dont turn well like a normal v paddle... they have the worst of both worlds...
Posted by: J_bob_28
sand stars are definately the best, but sand skate II's arent bad tires
Posted by: 250r4life
no, sand skate IIs definately arent bad at all- thats what everybody in my group used to run before the sand stars came out... then i got them back in sept 04, and now most of my group has sand stars as well... everybody that i know that has them loves them, and like ive said before, having all 4 tires is awesome!!!
Posted by: havinnoj
do yourself a favor and get some haulers....something on an 8 inch rim
Posted by: yfz450f
well, i dont have 140$ to spend on paddles you see, i can get sand devils for 60 all together. Need an AXEL. Maybe has some used paddles for sale????

whats size of tire?
Posted by: Dune Surfer
I really don't get why people like sandstars, We ride glamis every weekend and the two of my buddies that bought sandstars hate them. One sold his, the other cut off the little scoops to try and get some slide. I rode them on a YZF and a raptor and thouht they were the worst tire I have tried besides the Gecko.
If you want a tire that only goes straight get the sandstars. If you want a great duneing tire get the sand skate 2's or for a lower priced option go with sand sharks.
Know this, you will never be able to power slide a turn with sandstars, and thats a big part of riding the dunes fast.
Posted by: 250r4life
i couldnt disagree more... well, i completely agree about the sand sharks, but not about the sand stars... i have no problem powersliding with my 250r, but i do have that 2 stroke powerband to do them with. i did notice it was a pain to do that on my buddies raptor with sand stars, but i dont know if that was the tires, or the bike, just because it was different and rides a lot higher and i wasnt completely comortable with it yet...? but for my 250r i absolutely love the sand stars, and have no complaint whatsoever...

NOPE....The only way to go..Skat Trak Haulers!.http://www.atvnews.com/images/elements/34183_haulers.jpg
Same say these aren't the best for turning etc...But if you can't use the power of the engine and some body english, then that's your own problem.
