My rear shock is leaking oil. So I guess it's junk. I'm just looking for a stock replacement don't want to spend to much $$$ right now. Question is, will a 85-86 ATC rear shock work on a 86 trx? How about other years trx's 87-89? Thanks All

The ATC's would work but the hose is too short to mount the ressie. If your looking for other 87-89 year shocks, it will work but will screw up your ride height because each year shock went with that year linkage. I would suggest going with the 86 shock for convienance and cost. You could look into rebuilding yours or I sent you a PM because I may have one I could sell cheap to you. It was my backup shock but I may be willing to part with it. Tom

I dont know how much it was but right before I got my R the rear was rebuilt by Baldwin, feels great. That is another option for you.

Your best bet would be to rebuild it. It would cost more than a used stock shock, but it will be well worth the extra money haveing a like new shock, that is set up for your weight and riding style.
