Will a 250R Rear Custom Axis shock that is off an 250R with a 88' stock linkage swingarm fit my 86' stock linkage swingarm?? My swingarm is a -1 LoneStar swingarm with 86' stock linkage.
Thanks,
David

It will fit and work fine. You may have to play with the ride height some, but thats no big deal.

it will fit but will NOT work fine at all, the shock is a differnt legnth, thats why your ride height will be off.if want to put it on just to say you have an axis rear shock then good job but if you want it to perform right your wasting your time.
i wouldnt do it.

QuadRacer041 is correct, the '88 shock is slightly shorter. The '88 linkage is different from the '86(the dogbone link is shorter on the '88 linkage). I ran into this same problem when I rebuilt my quad, I was going from a stock '86 configuration to an '88 configuration. Fortunately, I was going from a longer shock length to a shorter one and Custom Axis was able modify my shock so that it would work. In short, the shock will bolt up fine, but your ride height will be lower and the shock will probably not perform as it should. I would give Custom Axis a call and get their take on it, they may be able to help you out.

Well my current shock is the stock one and basically blown out and now I'm doing a rebuild and planning to race MX so thats why I wanted the Axis shock. Also cause I'd be getting it for a good deal.

Also will the 88' linkage fit the LoneStar Swingarm I have? Cause if so, I can just get an 88' linkage to run with it.

Yeah the '88 linkage will fit the swingarm, All of the linkages are interchangable, you just have to make sure you have the right shock with the linkage so it will work right.

if you run a 88 link then the 88 axis shock will work fine, you wont need to get it serviced.
