Georgia anybody?

OK, we (250r, ryann mx68, and myself) made the trip to Highland Park today. For starters, the trails are pretty decent, some are very technical, and for the most part not too bad. They are in the works of building an adult MX track (they allready have a pee-wee track, which we forgot to take a look at), which the ground breaking will happen this week. If I had to rate the trip overall, for an atv/dirtbike park I would say you should check it out. The worst part of the whole thing is the dust, HOLY $HIT, THE DUST. It was close to being worse that DP ever was (with 1/4 the bikes). If you were to plan a trip out there, try to schedule it either while it's raining or the day after a good rain. And outside of that, don't listen to ryann mx68 or 250r, THEY'RE LYING. None of it's true, not one bit, nothing happened, it was just an uneventful day........honest. LOL, see, it's the only acronym I use.

pre-emptive strike?
i bet that guy on the pred 500 didnt know you were running a #310 main jet!!
LMFAO!!!!!.......well....that could be your problem right there.
Posted by: 250R
Whoo hoo, I finally got my computer fixed from a recent virus or some crap....too much porn I guess. Anyway, I had a blast riding and learned that you can completely disasseble and reassemble a 400EX in no time at all. I finally have coughed up all the dust from that last ride and am ready for the next go around, so let me know when you boys are ready.
Posted by: ryann mx68
maybe we could hit dp next weekend. ive been wanting to go, but this heat is brutal...
i really need to get a hydration pac also
Posted by: MX450
Hey any of you guys ride MX?
Posted by: ryann mx68
i dont race anymore, but hit the tracks for fun. i still like to put some hot laps together, wherever we go riding.
Posted by: Bighead1
I never officially raced but I've put together some laps on some good mx tracks
Posted by: MX450
Thats cool, shouldnt be too much longer till im finished with the R, white fullbores are in the mail. Just some fine tuning and small things left.
We should meet up at a track sometime. Calhoun is the closest for me, im wantin to go to bremen though
Ive raced one time at calhoun before my YFZ had some problems, i havnt been ridin for close to a year now
Posted by: Bighead1
I'm loveing that seat man. lol. Ya I want to go down to bremen to. But I'm going to DP this weekend if anyone wants to ride.
Posted by: Z-Racer-5c
My relocation to Jasper will be comp, ete on Monday! I will need to unload and get the house set up though. I may be looking for some ridding on the weekend of the 8th and 9th. HINT HINT! Have no idea where to go. It will all depend on how bad I ache from all of the lifting. Too many palm trees and too much dirt down in south Florida. The race tracks down here are no longer dusty, for it rains every day. Looking forward to meeting some of you in the near future!
Dennis
Posted by: ryann mx68
zracer, weve only had 1 day of rain in about 2 months so......welcome back to the dust
i was thinking of a trip to DP, maybe next weekend
also that track in talking rock [near you] has since stopped atv's from riding there. not sure y, but i think some idiots ruined it for everyone
Posted by: Z-Racer-5c
My wife workes in Canton. She will anyways. I will have to hook up with a few of you guys and do some ridding. I would like to go with you to DP. Wherever that is this weekend or whenever! I need some seat time. I haven't been ridding in awhile. I need to kick the dust off my quad! Looking ofrward to it!

heading to DP tommorrow [saturday]. anyone up for riding?
Posted by: Bighead1
I went saturday. 9:00-4:00
Posted by: ryann mx68
i was there also until 2:30, i bent a tie-rod on mx#4, sent me home early.
to bad, we could have rode. nobody posted, so i wasnt looking for anyone.
it was nice, not many people riding at all. kinda like having it all to yourself.
Posted by: Bighead1
I agree. ^^ Now forgive me if I'm wrong but mx#4 is the smaller one in the woods (in the open).
Posted by: ryann mx68
no, thats the "swamp" mx [has chain link fence around it]
mx #4 is out in the woods, maybe 15' or so wide, lots of elevation changes, mostly doubles. kinda a mx track through the woods.
you will almost ride by it and not even see it, there is only a small sign that says mx4. a good size berm blocks the view from the main trail.
Posted by: Bighead1
Ya I know where you're talking about now. The berm hangs a left but you have to go to the right of the berm to get to the track. I didnt ride on it this time. But the last time (before saturday) I was there they were redoing it I guess. They just had it closed off, but that was a couple of weeks after christmas though.
Posted by: crazedape
I think my brother and I are going to DP Wednesday. I have never been and I have heard that in the morning is the best time to ride because towards 11:00 the park gets extremely packed and it is difficult to ride with the amount of people out there. That is what I have heard and if anyone has any information discrediting that would be greatly appreciated.
Posted by: ryann mx68
any weekday= you'll have the place to yourself, no matter what time you go
i went 2 saturdays ago, maybe 30 or so trucks in the day parking lot. hardly saw anyone on the tracks/trails
Posted by: adavis4
any one going to dp this saturday, 7/22. Me and some friends are going out there. It has beena while since i have gone and its my friends first time since his big wreck out there. any one interested let me know, the more the better

I can't go on Saturday (wife's birthday), but I am going on Sunday, don't know if you want to or can change your plans. Anyone else want to go looks like this weekend will be nicer weather than we've been having lately. I will definately be there Sunday for anyone interested.
Posted by: ryann mx68
i cant go
im sending my suspension to Derisi for a revalve and springs, and new rear link......so i will be happy soon
i should be able to go in 2 weeks, keep it posted
Posted by: EXSailor
Next time then, I will have about three weeks sometime in August that the wife is going back to New York to visit my family, so I will be a free ridin fool, i'll post again when I find out what days she'll be gone. But sunday is still on.
Posted by: Bighead1
I can't ride this weekend but I'm gonna go on saturday the 29 (which is in a week) if any body wants to go.
Posted by: luvmyex
ill be going down to durhantown in Oct. any feedback on that place from you locals?
Posted by: Bighead1
Awesome is all I can say.
Posted by: ryann mx68
youll have a great time, no matter what or how you ride.
keep it posted when you go, maybe some of us will be there riding.
Posted by: luvmyex
how about i post it now. done made reservations
oct 13-15. right now there are 13 of us from atvnc going down. could this become a combined site group ride
Posted by: ryann mx68
that would be cool, ill try my best to ride there sat 10/13 or sun 10/14.
when it gets closer post some pics of your bikes or let us know what cabin you got, and try and find you guys
Posted by: EXSailor
allright guys, making another DP trip this Saturday if anyone is interested. All are welcome, let me know.
Posted by: Z-Racer-5c
I would love to go but I have not gotten my truck yet so I have no ride. I should be getting it around the 10th of Aug. That is the plan anyway. I will keep in touch and let you know when I can travel.
Dennis
Posted by: Bighead1
For those who have been to Durham town, do ya'll think a "motor stock" 400ex will be able to make a lap on the mx #1 track? Try to think about suspension aswell.
Posted by: garandman
Well since I can't get anyone in SC to do anything, I guess I'll need to travel to GA to meet up and ride with people.
Posted by: ryann mx68
a stock 400ex can do it, my 05 400ex made all the jumps last year.
you just have to make your landings just right though, or its gonna hurt
Posted by: luvmyex
any of you guys have some pics of durhamtowns tracks? ill be down that way on oct 13. i cant wait to get there.
Posted by: EXSailor
I don't have any pics of the big mx tracks, but here are a few of the swamp mx, it's an intermediate tracke in the woods. It's kind of hard to get pics of the big mx track because it's so big, but the swamp mx does'nt have a bad seat in the house.

nice pics. when was that? before the fence was put up.
i need to get some pics taken there. nobody ever wants to run the camera though......
Posted by: luvmyex
that looks like my kind of track. i cant wait to get there. post more if ya got em.
Posted by: ryann mx68
thats the "swamp" mx track, there are now 6 mx tracks at DP.
last time i was there, 4 weeks ago, mx #5 and mx #6 were combined. it was so big, you coulndt memorize the jumps, [ i was lost, on the track], sounds weird.
i think that they have split them up now. mx#5 was about 2 miles long. i think mx #6 was about the same.
mx #4 is my favorite track there, make sure you hit this one. i think it is off of trail [B]

i'll try to get some for ya. i hate running the camera though. maybe i'll pickup one of those disposable digi's for the ride.
Posted by: Bighead1
That's what I did, so I wouldnt have to worry about breaking the digital cam.
Posted by: EXSailor
I however am a rebel. I have a digital camera that I thought was broken, so I bought another one. After drop checking the old one once, it started working again....... so now I have a spare!

Ryann, sorry about the last minute answer, but can you still do Sunday? I got everything cleared through work and the off duty supervisor. Do you believe they wanted me to work this weekend!!! Good thing i'm the boss, otherwise I may have had to put myself on report for not showing up. But anyway, i'm in and I also have my neighbor possibly going, dirtbike guy, but he's good to go in my book. Either give me a call later today or tomorrow or i'll call you, whichever comes first.
So, anyone else interested in going? Post up, time is running out (no thanks to me)
Oh yeah, rebelbuggy, if you need a hand getting the 300 up and running, let me know, I might be able to get away for a few hours.

No, they were taken on 2 different tracks. The one with the table tops is the swamp mx and the one in the woods is mx 4.
Posted by: ryann mx68
yeah, i guess its time to get a hair cut
Posted by: luvmyex
how are the trails there? could i get by with 18" tires on em or would i need 20's or better?
Posted by: ryann mx68
you'll be fine with 18's. overall there really isnt that many rocks.
a few sections here and there. most of it looks like the picture of the track in the woods.

Hey guys count me in on the next ride ya'll get planned (as long as I am in town). I have not been since the last time we went to the dust-o-rama.

AH, dust-o-rama, I almost forgot about that, at least until I see any dirt....... or even think about riding somewhere. Can't even begin to say how many people i've saved from going out there. Anyway,
[SIZE=3]OFFICIAL INVITATION[/SIZE]
I am planning a ride to Durhamtown on Sunday, 17 Sep.
Post up if you want to meet up

im tryin for the 17th, wont really know until end of the week
Posted by: crazedape
I went to durhamtown for the first time today. It was just as good as everybody has said. The dragstrip was really dusty but at the end of the day they fixed that. I am sure I will be attending Durhamtown again this coming weekend but I don't know if it will be Saturday or Sunday.

im so stoked about going ! only 1 month away now

If you're talking about the weekend of the 16th and 17th, unless you want to ride 1/4 of the trails and deal with a million people, don't go on saturday. The 16th is when their having the hairscramble series and a majority of the regular trails will be in the circuit. All thats going on sunday is the youth mx series races, all thats tied up is the lodge and the pee-wee track.
Posted by: EXSailor
oh, and also, I just read in the DP forum that they just installed an irrigation system on the dragstrip, that ought to help a bunch on both dust and grooming.
Posted by: EXSailor
I can't believe i'm about to do this........but........ I have to bow out from riding this weekend. I just found out a buddy of mine from work who's getting married next month, has had his bachelor party planned for this Saturday the 16th. Seeing as i'm not 18 anymore, I don't think i'll be up to par on Sunday......at all. Sorry guys, I hope nobody set any plans relying on me for Sunday. Anybody up for the following weekend?
Posted by: ryann mx68
yeah, the 23rd or 24th will work for me

My '03 Yamaha Raptor 660 LE (red/black) was stolen last night out of the back of my truck in Gainesville, Florida. The cops are on the case but you know how that goes. If anyone in north Florida (Gainesville, Lake City, Ocala, Jacksonville area) sees a suspicious Raptor, please let me know. The last three digits of the VIN# are 386. I will be forever indebted to anyone who can help me out. A 1991 GMC Sierra pickup (red and silver) was also stolen nearby and is thought to be the truck used to haul away my atv. Please email me at NG4x454@aol.com if you can help. Thanks.

That totally sucks, Hope you find it...
Anyways Do any you GA guys ride anywhere besides these decicated trails? I would like to just find some woods and ride some, on trails or make our own trails, getting boring just riding around the house.
Guess i need to get mine running a little better before going out in middle of the woods tho.

As far as anywhere around here to ride, the only place I know of is some land off Lucas road near cartersville. If you follow 61 north on mapquest or google earth you will find it, its just on the border of paulding and bartow county. Other than that any land that could be ridden on is being developed or will be soon. And having a reliable quad is definately a big plus before a ride anywhere away from home.

I will be going to Durhamtown on Sunday. I will be in an '04 F-250 with a utility trailer. I will have a red no graphics 250r and a raptor in tow. May have another quad not sure yet. The truck is dark grey up top black on bottom and will have a set of nuts hanging from it.

how many people should i expect wed at DP? I have never been so i picked a day i thought there wouldnt be anybody there. Did i choose a good day?
Posted by: ryann mx68
you'll have it to yourself, prettymuch.
even when its busy, the place is so big.... you really dont see many people.
the most you will see, is in the parking lot
Posted by: EXSailor
Honestly, any weekday is a day of having the entire park to yourself. If any at all, there will probably be about 30-40 bikes in the entire place, which means you probably won't even see half of them. And since you've never been, you'll be pleasantly suprised at how nice it is to ride anywhere in the park at you're own pace. However, I don't want to discourage you from going on a weekend, the size of DP more than compensates for the hundreds of bikes that are there on the weekends. You'll have a blast, I guarantee it. Post up with what you think when you get back.
Posted by: bcg717
DP was amazing. There was maybe 20 people there and they were all in the trails and i was there for tracks. It was my first time at a track and i loved it, except for my stock shocks. What is a good but cheap way to get a better suspension setup for mx tracks. thanks
Posted by: ryann mx68
rearshock is ok on the 400, get a pair of fronts from a 450r. check on here or ebay. couple hundred bucks. this would be the cheapest way out
Posted by: ryann mx68
i forgot, i'll be going to dp before this.....but ive got some friends coming down from up north for thanksgiving. and we are heading to DP the friday after thanksgiving to ride
anyone interested?????
burn off some turkey and pies on the track
i'll keep it posted as it gets closer
also theres a bunch of people heading down from NC in a few weeks, i'll probly ride that weekend to, i think its october 13th

Could'nt have said it better myself, the 450r shocks are good shocks, and they'll mount right up. The next best/cheapest thing would be a set of works shocks. I run the triple rates with remote rezzies and unless I way overshoot a jump, they won't bottom out on you. They are great for an amatuer mx rider. Not to mention they suck up ruts and rough trails nicely. I would try and pick up a used set of 450r shocks first, unless money is no object, then get a set of triple rates. Keep in mind though, the more you get into mx, the more likely you'll be to getting a nicer set.

I'll try for the GA./NC. ride on the 13th, but it will be a last minute decision for me. I think my friend has a wedding that weekend, and it's also my first weekend back after being in Wash D.C. for a conference. I'll post up that week and hope for the best.

i'll be there saturday morning around 830-900. i'll try and find you guys.
look for me in the day-parking lot, silver ram 2500 towing white enclosed trailer
bring firewood, its been gettting cold
Posted by: luvmyex
yea its been pretty cold up here the last few days. we have the motel 8. there will be 6 of us there and a few others at a motel and a couple camping too i think. you ever ride the trails ryan? wouldnt mind a local to show us around a little. i also heard that 18"s should be no trouble on the trails.that right?
Posted by: ryann mx68
yeah, i can show you around. mike has a trail map at the lodge.
sometimes i dont know where im at either, but its all 1 way, even if you miss a trail you will always see signs pointing to parking area, to get you back.
there are some trails that i havent even been down, that are marked as "deep ruts". but for the most part, 18's will be plenty.
are you guys riding on friday? if so you'll know your way around pretty good before i get there saturday morning.
the trails are really fun, most have tabletops and doubles along the way to keep it interesting. i'll usually hit the trails to warm up, then out in the middle of nowhere you'll come across 3 mx tracks in the woods. i ride those for a while, then continue back on the trails, etc.
Posted by: luvmyex
the trails have tables and doubles
sweet! we plan to ride some friday. can you ride at night there?
Posted by: crazedape
I just got back from Durhamtown and it is sweet. That was my second time going and it was even funner this time. No worries about riding there. You will figure everything out in no time. That place is awesome.
Posted by: luvmyex
do they allow night riding?
Posted by: crazedape
Only certain times. Like 3 or 4 times a year. Normally no.
Posted by: ryann mx68
i think the trails [entrance] close at 5pm, so for a last ride- enter the trails before 5.
the tracks used to be open to a little later, but i'm not sure if they are still doing that.
there is a night ride you can sign up for, this takes you on top-secret trails. check at the lodge for night ride. you must have lights for this.

like it says

Hey Ryann I live in McDonough (wh/ is south of you) and it takes me and hour and a half. Trust me I time it every time we go, lol. I'm trying to get a break in the schedule for saturday, since its looks like its going to be a good one.
Posted by: luvmyex

i aint ready for that chit yet.
Posted by: Bighead1
Naw man not here the high is supposed to be 68-70 (in my opinion that's perfect) and the low is supposed to be 40-42. We're supposed to be having a little bit of rain here in the next day or so but not a big chance. I wouldnt worry about it that will just prep the trails for ya!
Posted by: EXSailor
DAMN THE BAD LUCK!!!!!!!!
I'm out for this weekend, I just found out I have to work this weekend. I think I should write the president, the war should stop this weekend so I can ride!!!! Oh well, have fun guys, be safe and ride hard!
Posted by: gsxr68
how much mx ridding do you plan on ridding or is most going to be on trails
Posted by: ryann mx68
i usually stay on the track until i cant hold on anymore, hit the trails for a while. ride to a diff track, then hit that 1... and so on.............
have you ever been to dp? the trails are pretty cool, not lame

Posted by: luvmyex
as soon as i can! that place is about as good as ive ever seen. i loved the track by the parking lot. except for thr hillclimb tabletop
i liked the swamp track and #4 too. i wish i lived closer
Posted by: ryann mx68
yeah, that big tabletop used to be the finish line jump, before they changed the layout. it is kinda intimidating the first few laps, but it jumps well for a steep takeoff.
glad you guys enjoyed the place.
what was the name of that new place near you guys in NC?
website?
Posted by: luvmyex
its carolina adventure world. its in SC.i think that is the website too not sure.
yea that place is great. exept today they called me saying the fire extinguisher was set off and thy want to charge me $150 for it
which is total BS! it was still in the glass case when we left sunday morning. we even cleaned up the inside and turned the keys in at the desk to be sure of no BS charges. somebody got a *** chewing and it wernt me

Based on the way you guys talk about it, I'm going to give DP a shot tomorrow (Fri after turkey day) - Maybe I'll run into a few of you. I'll be on a plain vanilla yellow stock 400ex with ITP tires/wheels.
Hey Ryann - how long of a drive is it from Canton? I'm just west of town on 20

I wnet to DP about 3 weeks ago, first time ever, I parked acroos from the pee wee moto cross track, it didnt seem that great to me, I expected it to be better, I cant imagine 900 riders there-MUST HAVE BEEN packed where did they park, is there another part to DP that I missed or something?

did you use the trail map? or just wing-it? you could have missed alot of stuff. even with 907 riders there, the trails really were not jammed.
dont forget, alot of pee-wee riders [3 peewee tracks], some guys stay at the parking lot mx tracks[2] and never hit the trails and the [3] mx tracks out in the woods. some people drag race all day.
luvmyex- j/k man, i dont care what anyone rides, as long as your riding!! thats all that matters.

You must have missed something. I drive fours hours just go ridding there. They have everything you would ever want, killer tracks, trails, freestyle ramps, drag track, mud pits, food, great pro shop, camping. What more would you want.
Posted by: 06LTR
What more do I want? I want a good quad mx track in my home town thats what I want! will you build me one for Christmas?please!lol! na man just tryin to find somewhere different to ride after you go to DP a few times it also gets old.

Im just spoiled coming from TX (military) where riding was free and the land to ride on NEVER ended. Im not into the mud, the drag strip is ok but nothing great, Im not into the MX either, DP has a lot of rules, its expensive and I know what others mean about getting bored there after a few times. I do like the pee wee area and the camping but$$ the trails are decent and it is fun, but Im looking for something free, something different, something bigger and I like "open" riding. My buddy here has 10 acres adjacent to a ton of farms so Im starting to ride there now. Big open fields are fun. If anything though I would rather pay to go to sunnyside ATV in Wrens, I like it better than DP myslef. Its closer, more money, only primitive camping (but I dont camp there) but the riding is better, a lot of open areas, mines and the restrictions arent as bad. Just big areas to go full throttle in.

Is anyone going to DP on Friday 12/22 or Sat 12/23? I picked up a new Raptor 700r last week that I can't wait to take, but have too many holiday parties this weekend & next to go. Might take one of my neighbors, but they all have utes & don't like the mx tracks. Anyone going to be there for a little pre-xmas fun?

Going to DP 12/10.

Alright guys I'm finally heading back to heaven. Me and some family and friends are heading to DP on Thursday the 28. I know it's on a thursday and for some it's hard to take off work, but since it's Christmas week I personally had no problem.
Posted by: EXSailor
hey everyone, just wanted to see what's up with everyone and keep this thread alive. Been real busy with work and kids here. I will be transferring to Philadelphia mid May so i'll be planning one last trip to Durhamtown before I leave. I'll keep everyone posted when I'm going if anyone wants to meet up. later.
Posted by: yzrider123
You can try http://breakabone.com ...
I believe there are a few places in GA listed.
You can also add some of your locations.
Posted by: EXSailor
And here it is....... My last ride to DP.......sniff, sniff.........Saturday May 5th. Anyone wanting to meet up, let me know, the more the merrier.
Posted by: evlls1
i'm 45 mins south of mcdonough in barnesville... you should come to Culloden off 19/41 they're open the 5th and 6th...
check out www.rockycreekatv.com
trails take about 2 hrs to ride unless you stop and play at the drag strip, ponds, mud, etc.... there's always a trail going around the mud areas too so you dont have to get too dirty
