Man I looked through all of this forum and can't find but 1 or 2 threads about places to ride/ race in georgia. I saw the Duram town thread and that is a awesome place, I'm goin again in a couple of weeks. But does anyone ride in Georgia? Oh by the way if anyone lives near henry county let me know.
Posted by: ryann mx68
where is henry county? south of atlanta?
new park just opened up, i think tommorrow will be the 1st day open. highland park resort
www.highlandparkresort.com [ north of bremen, south of rome]
www.broadriveratv.com [ near durhamtown]
www.georgiaoffroad.com , georgia off road has all the legal mx tracks and trails listed
Posted by: Bighead1
Ya I live about 20-30 min south of atlanta.
Posted by: ryann mx68
theres a few georgia boys on here. well all have to meet up at some point and ride.
id like to get something planned for this spring or summer, like a 2 day ride somewhere, GA, TN, AL, etc... dont matter to me, as long as it has a track, fast trails with doubles, tabletops, etc.
Posted by: Bighead1
Ya man I'm up for that. I'll be up in TN this summer so thats cool for me aswell. Where do yyou live? near me or what. Who else on hear is from Georgia?
Posted by: ryann mx68
up 575 in canton, probly 45 minutes north of the airport.
Posted by: Bighead1
OH ok. you probably live about an hour away from me.
Posted by: 250R
I live a few miles North of Atlanta, let me know if you guys want to meet up and ride. It has been a while since I have been riding ,I will have to dust off my 250R, but I am ready to go.
Posted by: Bighead1
Ok I'm going to Durham town this weekend if anybody wants to meet up. Hey 250R what color is your 250R, b/c I saw a white one at durham town a long time ago.
Posted by: rr5843
Can't be that many guys in Canton with an 06 450R...Are you the guy I met a couple of weeks ago near the river? I was on a Rincon.
Posted by: 250R
The in-laws are in town this weekend, so I will have to miss out. I am going to try to go riding the next weekend though, if you are interested. My four wheeler is solid red - stock 88 model with a pipe.
Posted by: Bighead1
Ok I see what I can do.
Posted by: johnboy
Theres a place here in Columbus named Dirty Dog mudpark, not really a racing place but its a good place to play around in. Its got a lot of trails with some tough hills and mud then a creek in the back and theres also a big open place to race or whatever. Pretty fun if you don't mind being part of the redneck crowd lol.
Posted by: Bighead1
Man my aunt and ukle live down in Culthsburd ( I think is how you say it) itn that near columbus. My Friend also does major AC work in Columbus. One more thing, did you get your name from the talk show guy or the barbeque sauce?
Posted by: johnboy
haha, i think that is somewhere near here... I got my name Johnboy cause my name is John and a girl gave started calling me Johnboy back in Middle School (in college now) and I used it for my s/n and all the forums I go to and it kind of just stuck(www.zr2.com and www.yotatech.com mainly).
Posted by: Bighead1

Posted by: adavis4

Posted by: ant-z400
i am having the exact same problem. none of my buddies have a quad and i get tired of riding solo and taking turns. remember i am from the city
Posted by: Bighead1
Hey ant-z400 have you ever been to durham town? B/c it is WELL worth the ride. And since you're a city guy, lol, I think they have internet hook ups if you need them. But next time I'm gonna ride I'll post up on this thread and let yall know when and where.
Posted by: ant-z400
no i never been to but man i all with it. you can email me direct or just call me. Do you drive or have a trailer?
Posted by: EXSailor
Durhamtown= all weekend fun. I live in paulding county, west of Atlanta, and i've been to DP several times now. Posted by: adavis4

Posted by: EXSailor
now thats how it's supposed to work, you meet some fellow riders in the forum, set up a ride short notice, fix antz quad
, and have a good day of riding. thats what i'm talkin about. hey 250r, think you can make it also? would be nice to see a classic piece of honda machinery rippin it up with us.
Posted by: ryann mx68
when you guys get together on a weekend, let me know and ill try to make it.
also work for myself, but im covered-up right now. weekends are probly all i can do for next 4-6 weeks.
im gonna shoot for this weekend or next, if next - ill probly run mikes xc race, idk.
id have to bring my son though, he wants to move to dp. he would be crushed if i made a trip without him.
Posted by: ant-z400
what about sunday? what area you from?
Posted by: 250R
No can do on tommorrow.....I can do next weekend more than likely. Let me klnow if anyone is interested.
Posted by: ant-z400
ok thats cool but what ryan u wanna sunday?
Posted by: ryann mx68
i want to..but, im building some custom cabinets and will have to work on these this weekend
if i could make it, would be a last minute thing
canton= 575 exit 14 , aprox 45 mins north of the airport w/ no
traffic
i know this is a month or so away but, im trying to get some people together for a 2 day ride at DP. when my kids are on break from school. i think mid april sometime.
something to think about anyway...
Posted by: ant-z400
ok i am all for it so keep in touch. You plannin a overnight thing
Posted by: ryann mx68
yeah, we usually stay 2 nights. well, you have to pay for 2 nights if its on the weekend, renting a cabin.
thinking of: arrive friday am, ride all day
: ride saturday
: leave sunday am [i think checkout is 11am]
it usually takes me about 2hrs and 15 minutes from my house to dp
Posted by: adavis4
im down for the dp trip. also next weekend there is a ride culloden. it is jsut trails very few jumps down there at all. it is more fun there to just harass the rednecks on there hunting atvs on the trails. they get pissed at alll the sport atvs hauling *** through the trails. anyone interested let me know. this place is about 30m ins from henry co.
Posted by: ryann mx68
i also wanted to try this place out
www.broadriveratv.com
i think its near DP, and ive heard nothing but good things about it.
i was waiting for the mx track to be built, and thats done, so i would make a trip here also.
Posted by: ryann mx68
alright, i'll be going next sat the 18th.
leaving around 6:30 am, should be there around 8:45 or so.
look for this truck, pulling a white 6x12 enclosed trailer.
we could go to DP or to Broad river atv [never been but everyone says its great, less crowded], dont matter to me.
DP may have some stuff [trails/track] shut down because of the race on the 18th?
let me know if any of you want to go.
my son will also be going, hes on a dinli 90, hes a very good rider, but the 90 shows its limits on fast trails.
Posted by: ryann mx68
look for this on the track / trails
Posted by: EXSailor
hey ryan, I might be able to join you on the 18th, but I wont know for sure until mid week. I definately recommend broad river though, i've never been there but I have'nt heard anything bad yet. Almost all of DP will be closed for the HS series that weekend, so it wont be worth the trip in my opinion. Sounds like a great reason to try broad river. I'll put on a post to let you know if I can make it.
Posted by: ryann mx68
broad river sounds cool to me. lets just make it there then.
im trying to get a few people i know to go also. theyr on ute's,
so i love watching them get covered in mud.
[i'm not a mudder]
another guy and his son might go [newb's], so if they go, there will be some "on the job training".
Posted by: Bighead1
That broad river place looks like a good place to ride, from the website. Have any of ya'll rode at the "dunes" in albany, I went and checked them out this weekend, didnt ride on them though. It's not an organized place, you dont have to pay or anything. I just though it would be pretty cool to ride in the dunes and not have to travel across america.
Posted by: ant-z400
i may go to broad river never been. my quad is in a upgrade process body and engine. going for new exhaust system, grab bar, handle bars, and full brake service. I want new plastics any suggestion? hopefully i get all this stuff by saturday. she's sick right now
Posted by: Bighead1
I would go w/ maier plastics. I like the orange or silver, match that up w/ a quad tech hood
. Just my two cents though.
Posted by: ant-z400
what about handle bars and give me a website so i can get the plastics. im going to get a few things today? yoshumira comp rs 3 exhaust system $425
Posted by: Bighead1
I would go for www.rockymountainatv.com for the plastics they're pretty cheap. I got my Renthals for 60 off of www.gopartsdirect.com, but if you want free shipping go for www.motosport.com. Hope that helps.
Posted by: ant-z400
exhaust what u think?
Posted by: adavis4
you ca get renthal handle bars at durhamtowm for 49.00 dollars. that is the best price i have found. as for exhaust check motosport.com they have the yohsi rs3 full exhaust for 359.00 and free shipping. its a pretty goood pipe. how was durhamtown on friday? i wish i coul dhave gone

I have a buddy that went out there a couple years ago, I would like to ride dunes, but the last time I was in sand, my tires did'nt exactly hook up very well. My friend highly recommended paddles if you really wanted to "RIDE" there. when you went out there, did it look good? Did you start droolin, or was it eh, i'd like to ride there?

Just a little fyi, last time I thought about broad river, I called them for a condition update, and the guy told me since it rained the couple days before, the trails were real muddy, apparently they have alot of low spots on the trails and the mx track, but the forcast looks promising for this week and the weekend, so it looks very promising, should be a good trip.

Even though there was a 2 inch coating of mud everywhere, it's DP, you almost can't go wrong. Not to mention I just had ant-z stay behind me the whole time....lol. My quad was still somewhat red at the end of the day, his was a nice shade of Georgia clay..lol.
Posted by: ryann mx68
so whats goin on guys? anyone up for this weekend?
keep it posted
Posted by: EXSailor
As of right now, i'm in for broad river on saturday, but I'm in the military, and things can change for me real quick, and it's usually at the last minute. And did I mention the 8+ month pregnant wife, she can change thing even quicker, and the same day!

its on saturday my baby is getting a major upgrade see yall saturday and i am up for the broad river trip to. any suggestion to the upgrade
Posted by: ryann mx68
yeah, i hear ya.... keep the faith it gets better, especially when you get to buy your kids their 1st ride. its cool!
you would be heading I-20 east from dallas?
broad rivers site doesnt have good directions. i usually take I-20 east to DP, would i go the same way or maybe:
get to athens, then follow directions on the web-site?
From Athens:
Go East on US HWY 78 to LEXINGTON Ga. (16 miles)
Go past COURT HOUSE and turn left on HWY 77
toward ELBERTON. Go 15 miles and turn right on
SAXON-MATTOX ROAD. Follow signs 2 miles to first
left and follow signs to Broad River ATV!

My best guess would be to take 285, get on the 403, then 316, then 29 into Athens. I've got a buddy who drives to Athens alot (his folks still live there), so i'll talk to him and get the best directions, he may even know where broad river is, we'll see.

From what I could tell it was just I'd like to ride there. But I just saw it from "The parking lot" (lol) and from a side road. But if anyone wants to ride down there let me know.
Posted by: ryann mx68
whats your ride? z-400 or a 400ex?
my 05 400ex, hmf exhaust, no airbox lid= iwas @ 170 main jet, and bumped the pilot a couple sizes, adjust air/fuel screw.
pipe, no airbox lid? = u probly will not need a jet kit, just buy a couple main jets.
u have stock jetting now?
Posted by: ant-z400
i gotta z 400 all stock for now major upgrade by saturday
Posted by: adavis22
hey ant call mountain adventures in conyers 770 761 4800 and ask for robert in parts. he got my rs3 full exhaust for 380 in 2days......not bad.
Posted by: ryann mx68
hey ant, i just did a search for [z400 jetting], and i guess suz has switched carbs 1 or 2 times.
dont know what year your z is, but most of the posts people were just putting in a bigger main jet and adjusting the air fuel screw. thats with a pipe, some w/lid / wo/lid
you can just get in the ballpark and buy:
example: [160, 165, 170 main] only a couple bucks each
sorry but i dont know to much about the suzuki, but a couple of main jets will be alot cheaper than the kit..
hope it helps
Posted by: ant-z400
thanks alot im trying to get ready for saturday i want to ride with the new system
Posted by: adavis22
ive always been told that u need the whole jet kit. that you need to replace the needle along with the mainjet to make it run correctily. i dont know if that is entirely true or what but that is what i have been told. whats up with a ride this weekend, broad river or what?
Posted by: EXSailor
broad river it is, as far as the jetting, yoshimura recommends a 170 main jet, 3rd position down on the needle. the only difference would be in what type of jets you get, ie. dynojets run slightly larger than most others, so I would go with a 165 dyno-jet main. with no airbox lid, 165 would be just fine, and if price is'nt an issue, you might as well get a complete kit, they're only about 30 bucks or so, completely up to you.
Posted by: ryann mx68
yeah, im headed to broad river sat morn.
depends, like i said im not familiar w/ the suz. and the carb on that, maybe im wrong...
as long as the needle is adjustable, u can change the clip position [if needed], so a bigger main and a fuel/air screw adjustment should be all he needs
newer models have a non-adjustable needle [05 400 ex] to meet california laws
my 06 450r has a non adjust needle [ its stupid]
Posted by: 250R
Hmmm, I am going to try to make it, but I am right in the middle if retiling a bathroom right now. As far as the fun meter goes, I know which one I would rather do, but I do miss my shower....
Posted by: kreed5821
Hey ya'll. I'm from farther north...lol. Habersham County to be exact. If you are used to going to DP, just go the same way to go to Broad River except hit 77north toward Elberton. You will cross goosepond creek just before Saxon-Mattox Rd. If you get to Broad River bridge, you went too far. I didn't have any problems finding it the first time I went.
I've been several times and love it! I havent' been lately though (fractured three vertebrae in Dec) but am going April 8th! Meeting up with some other possum patrolers I hope. Ya'll are welcome to come ride with me (or us, if anyone else comes...lol) then. I've heard mixed reports on the trails but John (the owner) said they've worked on em all last week. The place is only a year old and none of the owners have ever been in that kind of business. They didn't expect it to take off like it did...lol. Some of the trails should really be avoided if you are on a sport quad. Ask the people at the pavilion which ones to avoid. Water-World and The Maze are two I'm sure. I've also heard that the mx track needs more work, too spaced out. The cabins are SUPER NICE! And the food cannot be beat! I've been when there were just a dozen or so people so John ordered out pizza and gave em away. Then I've been when he would bbq ribs...
and dogs/burgers of course. If you pay to eat $6, you will eat all you want.
If you are looking for really neat and clean trails, you might be disappointed. I hope not, because I've been more and more impressed every time I've been.
Posted by: ant-z400
suggestion on a jet kit? i ordered the yosh pipe system; kn air filter
Posted by: ryann mx68
heres a place in PA. $48.95
http://hellboundracing.com/products...no_jet_kit_.htm
motosportoutlet has them for $54
try calling some local shops, see what they have in stock
new pipe, no lid, new filter, re-jet = its gonna feel like a new bike
it makes a big diff when you uncork these things, hold on tight!
Posted by: ant-z400
im not going to be able to make the broad river trip at least, without the upgrades. no one really had any atv jet kits in stock. so im up for any other trips after next thursday everything should be in my hand a ready to go.
Posted by: ryann mx68

Posted by: Bighead1
I know how you feel ant. Same thing happened to me a couple of weeks ago. Except I didnt need brakes.

I am purchasing a house in Jasper. I would be happy to get some ridding in this summer. I am about 20 minutes north of Canton and 50 miles north of Atlanta. I have a race quad set up for harescrambles and am looking for people to ride with. Looks like May 15th is closing and will be moved in by the 1st of June. I am up for whatever kind of ridding, just need to find out where to go!
Thanks in advance for the heads up on where to go!

I can't wait. I am looking forward to a change of grounds. I am so used to ridding on sand and only sand I can't stand it. Harescrambles are my thing but am looking forward to a change of venue. I have ridden a few GNCC races and a bunch of Florida Trail ridders, but I think I am getting old. I can still ride though! I have a decked out LTZ453. I love it! I have had some good offers to sell it but Iwill pass and keep a good ride. I am looking so forward to ridding with all of you!!
Thanks for all the info and keep it comming. I will also have my daughter a new ride when we get there. I may have to get her a Z 400 also. She is 12 and can ride my 450 well. She is AMA sanctioned and has her FTR card also.
Thanks Again!
Dennis

i woudl give you a ride but id ont have a trailer big enough for 3 four wheelers, but i am definitely going. ill be there at about 8:30 as well. look for a red dodge ram 1500 single cab, and a black 400ex. if you have acces to a bigger trailer then we can ride 3 deep in my truck. it would be a tight fit but whatever works? what about exsailor are you going to dp?
Posted by: ant-z400
double check the weather but we will definetly work something out!
Posted by: adavis4
weather says a slight chance of showers.......no big deal. rain or shine i ride, unless it is storming to bad. we still need more trailer space.

i havent been to DP since b4 christmas, ...... i need to go
i met exsailor and his bud at broad river a couple weeks ago, that place needs some work.
most trails were flat [not many jumps], the mx track was 3miles long [but it was to streched out] and needed some berms in places that didnt have any. 1 day with a loader on the track and it could be great.
so after that trip [i was expecting similar to DP] i really need to ride DP
mx#4 track... is calling me
i havent even seen mx#5, has anyone rode on that track yet?
what is it like?
Posted by: Bighead1
I have ridden on mx 5, its in the woods not like the one right next to the pewee track. The jumps are pretty sick on there. The weekend I was out there (a long time ago) some guy died on a dirt bike. From what I heard he overshot a table top, got loose and went off in the bushes and got stabbed by a fresh cut tree. But the track was real fun.

Sorry to hear that Ryan, I've been hearing that it has went downhill since the last time I was there. The track is going to have more added. The guy who built it said that he wanted to make it a lot shorter and more compact but John wanted it big and then improve on it this year. From what I've heard, one of the best trails for a sport, the Maze, is wallered out bad. That is a shame.

not that BR atv was in bad shape, it was ok, it is just missing some things to keep it interesting.
i can see keeping the main loop flat [ i guess they are harvesting the trees] for the logging trucks + equipt
they need to put some jumps and stuff on the side trails. just like some trails are for the mudders, they need to make some for the sport guys.
idea:
make a loop from main parking lot to mx track. i dont think the mx track is that far from parking?
it could be a xc style trail, with some tabletops and doubles that the sport guys could take to get to the track, keeping it 1 way.
this way they wouldnt have take care of jumps all over every trail, it could even run kinda paralell with the main trail to get to the track. if i had a map of BR atv i could draw something out, it could be really good

Posted by: kreed5821
I'll copy your post and put it on their forum for John to read. He loves to get input from us. Everything from the showers to the pressure washer and probably porta potties came from people's suggestions.

to far for a day trip

yeah dp is far enough for me.....but then again dp is awesome and sunnyside does not really look that appealing. only trails from what i can see, i like to have some jumps and mx tracks. when is everyone going to dp again....im thinking maybe next friday(good friday) i am off work if anyone else is. let me know.

anybody down for dp tomorrow? i am off work for good friday, i am riding there tomorrow till about 3or 4. anyone interested let me know.

ryann mx68 do you ever get bored and hit up sixes road by rope mill? I live right down the road from you in marietta.
Posted by: ryann mx68
never seen anyone near the mill, is there ok stuff? i try to stay away from sixes w/ all the roadwork around there, turning it into 4 lanes
i do get bored, but its nice to be able to ride without bringing them somewhere
Posted by: bcg717
its an ok spot if you only have a couple of hours to ride. i usually go as soon as you get off 575 exit sixes rd, take a right, then an immediate right down to a gravel rd. Then just follow trails back to little river. its best when lake and river is still low with water. But like i said its only cool if you have short time and just want to go local.
Posted by: EXSailor
Hey Ryan, check YOUR pm's.....lol. Just messin man, sorry it took so long to respond. Anyone ever jones so bad your wife starts to give you hell because you're tearing up the grass in the back yard? Time and patience..... a lot of patience.
Posted by: crazedape
I used to tear up the yard all the time then we moved to a neighborhood for the first time in my life. I was bored and before I knew it I was riding circles in the front yard and trying to jump a little hill from the road into the yard. That was the last time for that everybody got mad the whole neighborhood. I found a new spot behind the Kroger down the street still not as fun. I ride sport quads and I am tired of going to places and it being slow and boring and burning clutches and covered in mud. I am looking for faster trails, jumps optional but I would definately like less technical trails. I live in Buford about 10 mins from the mall of georgia. I have been thinking I bet if about 10 likeminded people got together and rented a commercial building you could really clean up with all the people in that area. Closest place to get parts from Buford is bare minimum 20 mins. That is if you fly. Then when you get there they don't have crap and every part you order from them is on backorder. Takes like a month to get the parts. If anyone lives around here and has a good spot to ride hit me up.

As anyone in this thread will tell you, have you been to / heard of durhamtown plantation? http://www.durhamtown.com/ Nice place to go, 80 miles of trails, 5 mx tracks, plenty of creature comforts. I live on the west side of Atlanta and it's well worth the trip for me. It's located near Union Point, GA., which is southeast of Athens, on the north side of I20. If you have'nt been, I highly recommend it, just post on this thread to plan a ride, i'm sure you will get a couple of takers.

Theirs around 10 of us guys goin back to dp this weekend let me know if ur in the area.
Posted by: ryann mx68
DP race is this weekend. i would make sure the trails will be open.
all the tracks will be open, but i think most trails will be closed.
Posted by: Bighead1
I saw a thing today on the tv about durhamtown, but it wasnt good. Fox 5 is going to do a investigation on them, I think it airs on wednesday. I just saw a little bit of the commercial but the guy that has a big ownership said something about "you dont know the pain I feel" so i figure that cant mean anything good for durhamtown. If anybody else has heard about this post up.

Posted: Mon Apr 24, 2006 5:48 am Post subject: Durhamtown Plantation, your best riding facility, needs Help
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What can you do to help Durhamtown Plantation continue as an ongoing riding facility.
Durhamtown Plantation, one of your favorite riding locations, is in need of your help. You know from past history that when a riding facility is attached by governmental agencies, the result has almost always been TERMINATION!
The prevention of Durhamtown’s possible demise is dependent upon you.
Here is the problem in a nutshell:
There have been injuries and even deaths that have occurred at DP over the past several years. The injuries and the deaths have been caused, not by the negligence of DP, but by numerous factors, i.e. speed, immaturity, carelessness, unsupervised actions of children, accidents, inappropriate personal safety gear, etc.. In each case, DP has made a conscious effort to investigate every incident, with the purpose of correcting any possible problems that may have contributed to an injury or death. Based on information gathered by DP, the injuries and deaths have occurred randomly.
The basis of the problem is your governments inability to find a solution to a preplexing delima that they are entrusted to enforce: Public Safety.
The consequenes of an unfavorable decision toward DP will no doubt result in similar actions concerning your other private ORV parks.
Why is this an issue NOW:
By now, what is meant is the next week of April 23 to April 30th:
WAGA is running an investigative report on Channel 5 Fox News on Thursday, April 27th at 6 and 10 PM regarding DP and its accident history.
In addition, the local policing agency is pushing, upon receiving a favorable ruling by a local judge, to obtain a restraining order to have DP cease operations by Friday, April 28th. The basis of the restraining order is that injuries and deaths occurring at DP are above normal industry standards for injuries and deaths related to this industry. If this order is successful, it may mean the demise of DP as well as other private ORV parks.
The DEFENSE:
Durhamtown Plantation must DEFEND itself. You, also, must DEFEND DP or lose this riding facility. DP’s defense will be based upon the accusation presented by the governmental agency pressing the issue. Does DP have a rate of accidents, injuries and deaths that is NOT WITHIN INDUSTRY STANDARDS?
What you and DP must do now to create a DEFENSE:
Now is defined as prior to April 28, 2006. Within 7 days, DP must defend this order and show why it should not be shut down due to an abnormal occurance of injuries and death.
How do you prove your case?
Durhamtown Plantation’s defense will be heard in a court of law. WAGA is the media. and can influence public and govermental opinion, but so can you. Positive media can only increase our odds of success. What it all boils down to is the COURT DATE. If you can show the judge that DP is run in a reasonable manner for an entertainment entity and that its injury and death rate is normal for the industry, you will be victorious.
AGAIN – YOU MUST PROVE TO A JUDGE THAT DURHAMTOWN PLANTATION IS OPERATING UNDER INDUSTRY NORMS AS RELATED TO INJURIES AND DEATHS THAT HAVE OCCURRED AT DP DUE TO PEOPLE RIDING ATVS AND DIRT BIKES.
Now ask yourself: Do I want to help? Am I capable of helping? What can I do? How do I do it? Do I want to keep this riding facility open?
What is your answer??????????????????????????????????????????????
Please respond to this post - not about your feelings in the matter, but rather about what you can do, when you can do it, and how important what you think you can do is to the cause of saving your riding facility.
If you have knowledge of any of the following, you can help is researching information that can influence a judge not to approve a restraining order that will immediately shut down DP but instead allow for a hearing date where you can present your defense. Let’s get the governmental agencies to allow DP to continue operation until DP can have a real, FINAL show down in court at some future date and DP can present all of the facts in its defense and, thus our riding location.
Who can help?
Anyone who has an interest in this case or anyone with knowledge, working history or expertise in the following:
Political - connections
Insurance Adjuster
Claims Adjuster
Actuary
Doctor
Nurse
Statistician
OSHA – Occupational Safety & Health Admin.
Hospital Administrator
Hospital Supervisor
Health Care Provider
Paramedic
Police
Public Safety
Urban Planning
Entertainment & Amusement Operators
Librarian
Researcher
Media Personality
Media Representative
What can you do to help? Speak up now. Durhamtow Plantation would like to have you on their defense team. Be part of the team. Tell us what you can do.
It’s Now or Never!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's truly been an interesting few weeks, between all the hype about DP, (STAYING OPEN!!!!!!!) and just yesterday at 4:13pm, the newest future rider on my family was born, WOO HOO!!!!! So now lets get down to business..... when are we goin riding? DP remains open, so thats always a good option. This Friday and Saturday are not good for me, but i'm on vacation for three weeks, so lets do this. Any takers? Lets celebrate!!!!!!!!

congrats!!!!
what momma dont know, .......wont hurt her.
is that 1 of each now?
we had 1 w/stem and 1 without stem.
Posted by: EXSailor
thank you thank you
That makes one with and one without. Fortunately my little girl will have an older brother to watch out for her....... and me!
Which by the way will be the only way I can sleep at night. With any luck she'll take to riding young, get amazing on a quad or a bike (whatever she wants), and intimidate any guy that would think twice about her. Wishfull thinking.
And naturealy, the wife has no clue about the picture, lol.

ive had this plan since my daughter was born:
when the 1st boyfriend comes over, im gonna have all my weapons out on the dining room table. just cleaning them....you know.
she'll be home on time!

Hey guys, i'm planning a DP trip on tuesday, May 16th. As of right now the weather is sunny and a high of 76. If that stays the same, i'll be riding. Anyone else who can make it, come on, the more the merrier. Just post on this thread or PM me, we'll hook up.

Anybody know anything about polaris 500? im selling my z400 thinking about sports polaris.
Posted by: ryann mx68
what r u looking at? polaris pred 500?
what about 450's...?
Posted by: EXSailor
Ryan's got a point, any of the three 450's would smoke the predator, and for close to the same price. Not to mention i've heard the motors are'nt that reliable. One guy I know had about 80 hours on his, motox and trail riding only, his cam chain broke and shredded his bottom end. May be just a freak thing but he said they were notorious for having motor problems.
Posted by: adavis4
get a 450 all day long......polaris predator is not at all what people make it out to be. i see 400 beat them all day long in a 1/4mile.
Posted by: EXSailor
I would normally be the last person to brag about myself........BUT.......... I just recently beat a stock predator on the 100 yd ish dragstrip at Durhamtown. I can only imagine that it had a lot to do with the rider............BUT............ I beat the guy three straight races by about a quad or two each time. No matter what the actual reasoning was, I don't care, it just felt good to smoke a quad that should be alot better than mine.
Posted by: adavis4
i believe it all the way....my buddy has a predator 660 and i can kill him down low pretty bad, he can only get past me after he hits about 5th gear. they are good topend but low i think the 400's are pretty good.
Posted by: adavis4
hey man when are we going riding again at dp? its been a while, i need a goood ride.
Posted by: EXSailor
got any ideas when you want to go?
Posted by: 250R
Hey guys, I am free this weekend, any takers on riding????
Posted by: ryann mx68
i was also thinking of going this weekend. i know we have some stuff to do, but i should be able to get 1 out of 3 day weekend.
not sure what day though.
its gonna be near 90' all weekend
heres a update on highland park [cedartown], on georgiaoffroad.com, the owner is starting to build the adult mx track, i dont know how long it will take but, it will be worth a trip to find out. its supposed to be a natural terrain track not sx style, more like mx#4 or mx#5 at dp, but wider.
it would be closer for most of us i think. hes only been open for a few months, looks like a good place. just trails and a pee-wee track right now.
www.highlandparkresort.com
Posted by: adavis4
i dont think i can ride until next weekend.i will be out of town this weekend. i am all about trying new places, especially if they are closer to atl than durhamtown. anyone interested in next sunday let me know.
adam 404-319-6321
Posted by: EXSailor
That Highland Park looks halfway decent, i'd be willing to check it out this weekend, mainly because that DP trip takes a big chunk out of the pocketbook. Anyone want to check out a new place, let me know. Unless the consensus is DP, then I may be in, not sure though.
Posted by: adavis4
i am game to go to the new place next weekend. like you said dp is a nice chunk of change, mainly in gas, just to ride for a day. i can go next sunday, to much going on this weekend. anyone interested let me know.
adam(404)3196321
Posted by: ryann mx68
highland park has a db limit though. i think its 96 or98. idk.
ive got a quiet core in mine, so if anyone ends up going you'll need to have 1 on. he also has somekind of quiet core you can use to meet his db check, if you dont have one.
im gonna check the website and see what it is......
Posted by: ant-z400
my quad bogging out' i dont know whats wrong with it
Posted by: EXSailor
yeah, I saw that about the db limit, i've got a tuneable so i'm not worried. But they say they have a baffle or something that you can rent for the day, they claim it does'nt affect performance, just sound. I would assume that it is an extension that attaches to the exhaust that redirects the airflow, maybe.
Posted by: EXSailor
hey ant, check your intake system, sometimes your carb may have a hose loose or even the intake boot from you carb to the motor can come loose. not enough fuel = bogging. does it do it at idle, high revs, low revs, all the time?
Posted by: ryann mx68
i put a post on gor.com, for a trail description of the place. seems to be mostly trails with off cambers, very hilly, not many jumps.
until the track is done, "air-time" will be difficult here. but i would check it out. $20 entry
take me maybe a hour to get there from my house
im up for anywhere, dp just kills me in diesel fuel, but that dont matter
exsailor- i guess broad river has been busy updating the mx track and trails. theyve put a bunch more jumps into that 3 mile mx track and also some berms that were m.i.a.
Posted by: ryann mx68
maybe Dixie Speedway [woodstock] would build a track for us on the infield
Posted by: EXSailor
yeah they would have to, I can honestly say I have never seen a more pitiful mx track ever. after a good drought, and some rain in the morning, it might actually be worth trying that place out again. The conditions would have to be just right though, that day we were out there it was pretty dusty on the track, and most trails a highlifter grizzly 660 would have probably gotten stuck, lol. Post or call me if you get any info on the trail conditions, although I love the jumps, I also love to ride. And interestngly enough, I playede a round of golf in cedertown a couple weeks ago, and it took me about 30-45 minutes to get there, so that is a nice change of pace.

Nice, but after breaking the stock seal, no port and polish? JK, lol. did you do the work yourself, was it hard? I bet that thing just screams now.

what day u thinking about riding? ive got something smack in the middle of the day on sunday, so thats out for me.
monday?
Posted by: EXSailor
I can be in for monday, where and when?
Posted by: ryann mx68
yeah i did everything myself, i bought a service manual though.
this is my 1st 4 stroke, i didnt know anything about valves, cams, timing, etc.
2 stroke= with my eyes closed, 4 stroke not as bad as i thought, once you do it, its easy
Posted by: EXSailor
oh yeah, I've had my motor apart about 10 times now, I can pretty much do it with my eyes closed. Never done bottom end though.
Posted by: ryann mx68
im up to try highland park or where ever, i just like the idea of not driving for 2hrs and 20min. [thats 5 hrs of seat time-roundtrip]
i'll go in with no expectations that way i wont be dissapointed, like broad river [i had high hopes].....
Posted by: ryann mx68
exsailor- just checked with my supervisor, im all set for monday where ever we go, no kids...to slow me down. haha!
