are the douglas .125 aluminum wheels strong enough for dune riding and jumping. dunes only

I had Douglas .125's for about 6 months. In the wide open dunes they do great. But if you side-swipe a branch at even 5 miles per hour, you'll turn that rim into a taco. I know because I did it.... twice. We have trees in the Oregon dunes. After the second time they would no longer hold air. So now I'm running Douglas .190's. Your .125's will be fine as long as you hit ONLY sand. I managed to catch some 6 feet of air and 25 feet of travel and they didn't even bend. But that darn branch nailed me twice.

i run the 125's in the Oregon dunes also and have yet to have any problems

I run the 125 in the dunes only and they bend very easily. I come back from a ride and don't even know what I did to bend them. Especially the fronts. Sure can tell a weight difference between the 125 and 190s though.

On hte rear anyway. Maybe we don't ride hard enough

I ride alot of the trails at the dunes but try to avoid the roots and occasional rock

I even jump on mine and i'm not the best jumper sometimes accidently landing on one rear wheel!LoL and they hold up..

the douglas .125 wheels are made for dune riding i had a set and never had a problem with them

I have had 2 sets of .125 wheels on rear (8" rims though) and 1 set of .125 in the fronts. I've yet to have a problem with them. I ride the oregon dunes. I jump, dragrace, climb hills, hit the trails, ride on the beach and my favorite... treeshots. I think they will work just fine. But you should prolly get the 8" .125 rear. less chance of bending.

and yes I ride hard.

I run the 125. also. I have bent the rim of the wheel a few times but I just get out the rubber hammer and bend it back.

I would use a 8x9 wheel with 125's also narrow is good. But if you use a .160 or .190 go with a 9x9 or 10x9.

I have the .125's on the front of my quad for the dunes. I've jumped pretty big, around 110 ft and haven't had any problems, but I have Longtravel suspension which helps with the absorption.

It's not the jump that will bend a rim, it's the landing.

Anyone who's a good big jumper can land on .125's all year without a problem but get someone like me, who doesn't jump big intentionally

, out there landing wrong and i'd be happy with just bending a rim and not going to the ER

that's what i have on mine and i have had them for abou a year no problems i like to jump alot and ride trails and they held up fine
