will the 400ex shifter fit the 250R?...its about 1" longer then the R one....

I'am not sure, but i think a stock 450r will work if this is any help

No it won't, shaft on ex is smaller and spline is different, I tryed puttin my ex shifter on my r and it won't fit.

Shifters from 85-01 (and possibly newer) CR250's will work, same spline. But you may want to look at a few because the bend changed many times over the years.
