and yeah walmart.com sells them for the 300ex. Just go to search and type in quad or atv. You need a special tool to do it also.

Valve spring compresser, altho with stock valves my dad put a pair of pliers on there and pushed as hard as he could while I got the holders.

thoes "holders" are called retainers or keepers

You need to purchase or borrow a giant c-clamp. Get 2 1" nuts and weld them together, cut out the side of each nut and get a little pen like magnet. Put the nuts on top of the spring retainer and clamp them down. Make sure when you clamp it down that you are still able to get at the keepers. Use the magnet to fish them out. Loosen up the clamp and do the opposite when you reinstall the retainers.
