i wanna replace the handlebar crap and cover and put Renthals on. is it possible to keep the headlight? is it real hard to take it off and back together?? which ones should i gert for a 2002 300ex? certain ones or wut? iim new at this handlebar ****.

i know that some people take the lights of 87 and 88 250x's and use those because they dont have that huge plastic thing over the top. just a little plastic peice.

The headlight attaches to the steering stem, dont worry about that, when you replace the bars that doesnt need to get touched, what 250xman was talking about is to get a smaller handlebar plastic ciece off a 87 250X, so that you can have a place to put you key..............anyways, when you remove stock handlebars ALL you need to get rid of is that funky plastic over the bars, you can keep it if you want, because Renthal handlebars allow you to remove the crossbar, its all up to you

well how do i get a holder for the key?? where would put it on the 300ex? if i didnt get the 250x cover

ask matrix250R, i sold him my old light and cover. he might still have em. they were in awsome shape when i sold em.

The best looking way to do it is put it under your front plastic drill two holes on the frame which wont make it weaker then hook it up their

It's not too bad really, I JUST did mine last week. (I'm no mechanic either) I put on some Renthal Bars, a new clutch lever and perch (so I could get rid of the big parking brake mess) a parking brake blockoff plate and I used the 87' 250x ignition plastic. I love it, I think it looks soooo much better. Although the new grips I got SUCK and need to be replaced already. Other than that it went real smooth. I could try to post some pics later.

Does anybody have any pics of the '87 plastic peice?

Posted by: pbarr86

This may help, this is NOT a picture of my bike I found this picture on a different thread but it IS a pic of the ignition plastic.

Hope it helps, I wanted to get some pics of mine out but just haven't had the time.
