Hey guys i was wondering if anyone has cut their pipe down on their 450r yet
If so what did you think of it good or bad i want to cut mine 6 and a half inches down. I did it with my old 400ex and it was a huge power gain in the bottom end
just looking for some other racers input

Other than being extremely annoing, there will be no other advantage to cutting down your pipe. Getting the core out of the middle of a stock pipe might help with power, but there is nothing to muffle the sound. All the big boys make plenty of power without making plenty of noise. Loud pipes are for the birds. It is detrimental to our sport, and causes riding lands to be shut down. I am not trying to flame you or anything, I am just trying to get the point accross that louder is not better anymore.

to me, a quiet quad is totally gay.
loud pipes aren't the problem. people abusing their priviledges is the problem. kids on loud quads that think it's cool to show off by ripping and tearing in front of someone's house, instead taking it easy until getting in the woods.
maybe there should be an age limit on the purchase of aftermarket pipes. and, maybe an additional background check to see if the customer is a previous excessive noise offender.
i can understand why "some" people want to make our sport quiet. but, come on, racing has been around forever. and, all of a sudden sound is an issue???
who's spear heading this movement? some geritol-using hippees? lol. just a way of saying old folks from the 60's.
if you don't like a loud machine, you're not a man. period.
on a different note,
I hope everyone has a Happy New Year. This site rocks. And, everyone that posts and shares their info, rocks as well!!! I'm glad to be a member!!

well see if any of you actually paid attention to any type of "racing" you would understand that there is a sound limit now, even with the dirtbikes in the supercross and national series. Hence why honda came out with the dual exhaust crf250 so that it can bring down the noise. Be smart about it and at least keep the sound at around 100 db the noise limit at gnc and gncc races right now is 102 db i believe, it's also 102 db on the bikes too.

I just put a full yoshimurta trc comp system on my R and took the spark arrestor out... its pretty loud how many dbs do u think it would be?
Posted by: force
well, i guess i don't care if they lower the sound levels a little. i just don't want the level requirements to be reduced down to stock sound levels. that is what makes me worry.

well i know the rossier shorty that they sell is right at 102 db so if you've heard one of those and it's louder than that........try getting some sound deadening packing or something cuz that rossier is loud i wouldnt want to hear the other one, the wb carbon pro 2 that just came out is even a little quieter than the rossier shorty
