Just wondering what you guys are using for your dirt jumps i;ve heard of people using junk cars and throwing dirt on top of them and some other crap like this so they don;t have to use as much dirt?
anyway i was just wondering what everyone else using or ya'll just use dirt. just lookin for some idea's

just about anything I can get my hands on... Most of my jumps are full of rocks though, a few rail way ties, trees and a few small children... JK but I'd use anything you want, provided it's not "dumb" like oil tanks or possible hazards.

Some friends and I always just used pure dirt and a few shovels(dig a monster hole..1-2 days worth..right in front of the jump, we could clear that anyway). Occasionally we would throw something else in the mix...a couple steel barrels every now and again...empty of course.

You use children too!? man, and I thought I was the only one.. phew...
haha jk, usually i try to pile up logs then throw dirt over em.

ya what he said...use some logs and then once you have it high enough then start covering it all with dirt

Dont use logs because they rot and fall apart over the winter or anytime and the jumps turn to $h!t.

We had some 2by4's laying around, so I just layed some down, put dirt on it, layed more down, put more dirt on it, and so on. Same with the landing.

my buddy for the lips uses steel doors or flat peices of metal so u always have the perfect lip it works...

if you live next to state or county ownd land dig up dirt put it in a wheelborrow take it to your place and use it(make absoulute SURE that there are no cops or smokies ther to pin you with tesspassing the dirt they wont care about if it is on your land)
same wit the neighbors if they have an open feild they dont use or wooded area but ask them first mine tend to yell at me when i dont ask
go figure like i pay attention
i think they know that i was pissed at them for their nagging when i went to there house when they were gone and it was raining i threw a decent roost at the side of their house

Here's the only pic's i've got of any of the metal lip's we've got. Figured i'd paste the pic's since Goldrims04 mentioned it.

This one we move all the time. It's on the section where they remove land alot, but you get the idea.

Dig a hole with a backhoe, let it sit a few days n grab all the rocks out of it. Plop them down where u want the jump n start piling dirt over them.

i used all dirt and rocks. but a big colvert would work rilly good for making a jump.

If he had one we'd have a sweet track here, cause what we have we did by hand mostly and its pretty nice. We want to build a whoop section and maybe some rythem sections next.

So let me get this straight. You dug a hole on your neighbor's property without permission and when they got upset with you, you threw a roost on their house when they weren't home? If any neighborhood kids did that to me you can bet it would be the first and last time. You do realize that not everybody wants holes on their property right.

I don't think you get it, probably because you're too young. That is their private property to do with whatever they want. They paid for it. You didn't. You can't just take what you want, especially when they didn't give you permission.
Also, you don't know what their plans are for that land. Maybe they're going to use it for something in the future and don't want it all dug up.

the track o go to has a HUGE drainage pipe in it heres a pic you can see it in the background

i just go out to fields before planting or after harvest and scrap like 3 or 4 inches tell i get a bucket full, then repeat in a different spot. Then i use the skid loader to form it better. i could not imagian how much it sucks to have to build jumps with a bucket and wheel barrow. I give props to you guys!

and the front...

You ever seen the gasoline tanks underneith gas stations? They are about 10ft tall and 20 so ft. long...you take on of those and you can build some wild jumps
A guy that runs our district has one huge tank under one of his jumps...takes up the space of about 6 hours of backhoe work.
Posted by: TRX400-06
There is laws against having those huge @ss gas tanks laying around. It is good use though. I live in "CLAY" county missouri so there is tons of clay in the dirt. Makes longer lasting jumps. Or you can always take lime dust(alot of the dust on gravel roads) and put on your jumps and get it moist then wait for it to dry and it is rock hard.
Posted by: balls2da-wall
what they cant see wont hurt them
Posted by: TRX400-06
That would be my take on it.
