hey guys...i have a 00' 400ex and cant get the spark plug out for the life of me. I tryed a 18mm socket deep socket and it was not even close to fitting in there. So i grinded it down a bunch and it is still wayyyy too big. Is there a special tool I can use?

your quad came with a tool in the tool kit to take out the plug. they are cheap and thin. i use one from " a old honda 3 wheeler " it is thicker and doesn't bend or anything. i would say check on ebay for and older style tool kit or just a new one. i believe motion pro makes a special tool also. check out rockymountainatv.com see if you can find what your looking for

I just used my roommates spark plug toll from his 2004 660r Raptor. Dont know why they make the one that comes in the 400ex tool kit so long.

There seems to be some variances in the fitment of Craftsman sockets on the 400ex spark plug. I use a regular 18mm Craftsman deepwell socket that I bought in a 200 pc. kit around 1986 or 1987. It fits my 2001 400ex with no problem.
From what i've read the stock tool kit plug socket works great.

i called the honda dealer and ordered one...but what I did was take a plumbers socket type thing that was too small to fit the plug, and grinded it out to make the walls really thin but big enough to fit the spark plug. Worked perfect and I got the spark plug out!!! Too late tonight to try and start it up..but wish me luck!!

UPDATE
well I fouled yet another plug so somethings wrong w/ the jetting or something. I cross referenced the NGK plug and tryed out a different brand. With this new brand, I can actually stick a normal spark plug socket in there easily and it fits the head of the spark plug like a glove!!! Changing spark plugs is SOOOO much easier now!!
