i own a 400ex and as u see in my sig (Honda to the Heart) i am a die hard honda finatic and willingly say the z-400 is faster resons listed below
Double Over Head Cam
Liquid Cooling
Somewhat lighter

but the 400ex is way more reliable with its solid frame and easyer maintainence due to SOHC and air cooling system
