I am wanting to set my quad up for cross country. Can someone give me some pointers or something that I need to focus on first. I'm trying to hold off on suspension.. Little short on money. Anything other than that though. Thanks alot guys!

tires, skidplates, bigger gas tank. etc...

You got to have 6 ply tires and skidplates. I highly recommend front shocks. You can get econo elkas for a little more than 500. The stock 400ex fronts turn into pogo sticks during a xc race.
