Hey all,
I'm kinda new here. I just bought a 04 400EX. It is coming tomorrow
. I went to sign some more papers tonight and they let me ride it. I was awsome. The first time I rode a quad ever
. .... ... ... any way...
Did I make a good buy? I was thinking that maybe I should have gotten the 450R, but it was a Grand or so more.
Can't wait til tomorrow. I'm already thinking about a pipe and jet kit.
Please, your thoughts
thanx

For your first quad the 400 is plenty enough for you and then some. Its a good solid quad. Be safe

A grand or so more for the 450r?....... that would be a tough call for me.
The 400ex is a great quad but is quickly becoming dated. It will suite most people's needs for a sport quad and aftermaket parts are readily available but if you're wanting to be race competitive you'll have to invest some $'s.
You didn't make a bad purchase

I'm not planning on doing any racing, just a lot of riding. Parks, trails, wherever I can. I plan on modding, just about everthing I can on it. money permitting
thanx for you guys' input

Then a 400 is more then enough. everyone always screams that people should own the new 450s, but they really arent worth it if you dont plan to race. imho

the 400ex is a great bike for those of us who love to ride hard, but don't race. I suggest saving money on the pipe for a month or two so you're sure that's where you want your money. I personally am trying to get suspension great. The power's fine for me so I doubt I'll get a pipe anytime soon.
Congratulations on your new bike.

A 400ex is perfect for you. And you said you are going to mod everything it is the perfect bike because there are so many aftermarket parts for it. Just watch out that you don't get junk parts or parts that will wear other stuff out or are a waste of money.

good choice, get out there and ride. The 400ex is in no way a bad quad. Unless you racing national GNC's its a fine bike. It makes a good XC quad and MX quad. Heck im beatin full MX 450's all the time on my little 416.

Thanx, I did get one when I bought the bike
...and thanx for everyone else's comments, I rode the bike all morning yesterday, and had a royal BALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm gonna get a quiet performance pipe and jet kit first. Does anyone have a suggestion on a quiet but powerful pipe? Slip/on or full exhaust.
Ride on fellas
