What kind of pipe should I get for an 01 300 ex?
Posted by: 300ex_#387
How much money are you looking to spend?
Posted by: MrMan
I'm looking to pay about 100 dollars, 300 would be the highest I'd pay.

you wont find much for $100, but for about 200-250 you can get a nice hmf slip on or a white brother slip on

what ever you get dont cheap out by just getting a slip-on, there is MAJOR power to be gained from an oversized header

I am one of the few (i think there is like 3 total on the site) that uses a supertrapp pipe. I put one on my 300ex along with a K&N and dynojet jet kit and it woke my quad up so much. I dont think that you can see the head pipe but it us huge compared to the stock and some other exhaust. I paid like 325 at

a white brothers and hmf combo works great
i would go witha full exaust of you can find one though

DG makes a whole system that sells for $175. It's loud but it makes pretty good power...

For the money the DG complete system is the best way to go. I just bought a Sparks exhaust and will be interested to see how much of a diffrence it has over the DG on the bike now.

Big difference.
The DG is a low-mid pipe. The sparks is a mid-high pipe. And, the Sparks (turndown at least) is a lot louder then the DG, unfortunatly.

my supertrapp isnt like ear drum breaking loud but it is pretty loud. I only have 8 discs in, i wonder what it would sound like with 12

Ive run a DG full system, and the Sparks system. Both you notice a difference in power from stock. The DG i could run with the stock jet, but had to bump up with the sparks. My DG was louder, but the sparks had a noticeable pawer gain. DG is definately cheaper, full sys under 200, and i liked it. I would go with that unless you're serious about racing.

I have the supertrapp plates on the end of my sparks and it quieted it down a lot, with no power loss.

FYI: Sparks big core turndown runs around 110-112 dB's.

The Supertrapp IDS 2 with opened air box and jet kit does do wonders for the 300--night and day.

I also had the Supertrapp ids/2 full system on my 04 300ex.It did make good power but i liked the HMF pipe with White Bros. header much better.
