Anyone ever had this happen...

This gear came off and locked up my motor at practice, and one of the cam chain slide bolts sherd off. And the other bolt was about to come off also... What you guys think? Was this stuff never tight and the gear not put on with the circlip you think for it to come off like that?

what year is it.....i heard and saw a post on 2006 yfz's that some bolts and fasteners were not installed or torqued corectly

Its a 04, but that gear is held on by a circlip, and the 06 i think just the 2 bolts behind the starter clutch came loose

All of that stuff, would have been apart when the cases were split. I think I would talk to the guy that split your cases for you. If he is an upstanding citizen he might help get it fixxed.

I guess that gear came around and broke that bolt, if that is possible. Or if that bolt is further up, it may have broke off then fell down into the geras and jammed them up, causing the c- clip to fail.

Yeah i just email him, so we will see what happens. That bolt was on the side of the motor that the gear came off, so maybe it got stuck in the gear like you said. The bolt broke off on the left side and floated over to the ride side
