i think mine with 14/36 gearing and 18 in rears goes 55-60 pushing it hard. Top speed isnt a big deal, its all made up when you are haulin arse in trails or on a track, if you're a good rider.

Most will agree with stock tires and stock suspension it will go 55mph +/-

Stroking helps with tourqe and low end power not very much on top end. A cam, port&polish, bigger carb is going to help top speed wise.

my friend had a 300ex before we bought it from him and he had a sparks pipe K&N air filter and was jeted with stock gearing and it did 65

It's possible. My 300ex showed 63 on my garmin GPS with a sparks pipe, uni filter/jetted and 22" tires. I was on a level paved road. And I have stock gearing as well. Also I believe I'm running a tad rich on the main jet.

The 300ex top speed is affected by 3 factors.
1) Rev Limit
2) Sprocket Sizes
3) Tire Diameter
A bone stock 300ex, w/ stock tires @ 5 psi has a top speed of 54-56mph on a flat hardpack straight away.
Put 10 psi in there and it will go faster (larger diameter. ) Tire pressure in 2-plys can easily make a 3-5 mph difference on the rev limit.
22" Razr2's are actually like 23" outside diameter. 13/36 gearing is also geared higher. w/ stock rev limit it will go about 60-62 mph.
Add 1000rpm to the limiter you can hit 67-70 mph w/ the Razr's and 13/36 gearing. However hp now becomes an issue. 18hp isn't going to cut it up here
14/36 on a 300-330cc (need the HP to hit the rev limit) w/ 22" tires and a 9600 rpm rev box will fly. It can top out at about 75-77 mph.

I got my 300 up to 78 with 15/34 gearing and 20" tires back when it was bone stock, yea it was fast top speed wise but slower than dirt on bottom end. All depends on the gearing, tire diameter, and rev-limiter. One day I was following my buddy in his prelude and he said we got up to 60 MPH at one point, and I never got into 5th gear. This was with a built engine, 15/38 gearing and 18" TT tires.

yea, my quad pulls it with an .040 piston but it has headwork. Its still worthless unless your doing top speed compitions. Why would you want to go 80 on a quad? Where are you going to do it? The old legal place you could possibly get close is in a desert race, cause most quad drags are 300 ft. or 500 ft. Top speed dosent matter, its how fast you get there. JMO

you need to start clocking these speeds acurately. my stock 400ex will only do about 68 wound out...5psi
my buddys 660 raptor w/big gun exh. and k&n wound out will only do 78. now these are measured with a GPS
alot of people use the "i was running with a pinto" lol. or"it felt like 70" i also have a 2001 300ex w/pipe k&n jet kit and 18" mxr4's. it will only go 48mph wound out stock gearing ... 70-75 is a little hard to swallow unless 1st gear feels like 5th
and what good would that be? the ex's r known for their wheelie happy design. and to take that away, you might as well be riding a rancher . lol...... Just My Oppinion...

my uncle has a raptor 350 that heonly changed the gearing on and after awhile toped it out at 92mph (his cop friend clocked him with a radar gun)

Here's a gearing calculator, put in the gearing and then it will show the results, but like I said, a 450R or YFZ won't hit 90 stock, and 450's have what? 35 HP? A built 350 Big Bore 300 will have around 31-32ish HP. A stock 300 will go around high 50's I believe.

I don't know about 92mph, but i race sport class on a 300ex, and I know that a couple of guys in that class, completely swallow 400ex's and Z400's so they are fast, and one guy kept up with a 450r, and his 300 was stroked and bored and BUILT! I had mine go 68 mph, NOT MAXED OUT, and then I crashed, I was not being smart and riding on the road, and hit a ditch, tore up my quad bad, it broke two leager chromoly a-arms and a works shock in half!, so yes these quads when built rite can go extremely fast, and can be extremely dangerous, also don't get balls'y and ride fast on the road.
