I'm having problems with my 300ex. I've never really worked on 4-wheelers before but I think the problem is in the fuel system. I can't find the fuel filter to check it so if anyone could tell me where it is, that would be great!

it is at the petcock on the tank...that is the gas on/off switch

If it's not the filter, other places to check:

Fuel Lines (pinched, dirty etc)

Carburator (may be dirty, clogged etc)

Bad gas

Check the spark plug to see if it is wet (with gas)

The Choke

(those are in no specific order)

Thanks for the suggestions, I have all ready checked all the lines and flushed everything out. I bought a new spark plug, the old one was ok but replacing it couldn't hurt. So now its up to replacing the fuel filter and putting it back together. Keep your fingers crossed, this is an old machine and has been through a lot!

If it still runs crappy after you do the filter check your carb!!!!!!!!! CLEAN the carb real good, thats what seems to be going on w/ mine when it runs crappy!! We usually find crap in the bowl!!

as far as I know most 300ex's dont have fuel filters. At least mine does. All they have is a screen in the On/off/reserve petcock. Now that I think of it I think that I am going to add a in-line filter to my 300ex this winter.
