will the ims heal guards for a 400ex work on a 300ex? if so wut kinda modifications would be needed?

I've been meaning to check into this a little more thoroughly. I know that if you're running the Roll Design pegs, Z400 heelgaurds should be able to be made to fit with a little tweaking from a rubber mallet and drill. I'll see if I can't get some more measurements soon.

Well, I started checking measurements on my Z400, although it has AC ProPegs instead of Roll Design pegs, it seemed like the measurements were all within a quarter of an inch of fitting. I'll double check again later. And I also have someone checking the dimensions on a Z that has the Roll pegs and IMS heelgaurds. Soo, we oughtta know before too long. Also, I'm checking these measurements on my 300, which has the Roll Design pegs. If you're not running these(which doesn't make much sense why you wouldn't be!)then they won't fit.

if this works ill be buying both.. does ims and roll make the pegs for the 300 or are the 400 pegs?

IMS/Roll make pegs for the 300. There isn't any other quad out there that I know of that you can use the pegs from on a 300.
