Been looking for a twist throttle for my 400 and am wondering if this will work? Is the cable gonna be long enough, or to short. Ive seen some on eBay but wasn't sure if it'd be cheaper to get one off the XR or not.

there are 2 cables that run to the carb and twist 1 of the cables works like any other bike it pulls the slide open but the other one as you release the throttle closes the slide i think it has something to do with being able to snap the throttle shut faster than the spring would return it in an emergancy.
you can get the same throttle shut off with a stronger spring but this will lead to rider fatigue because it's hard to pull back or maintain a constant throttle.
