what is the best suspension setup for a 300ex front and back money isnt an issue i have all stock right now and NEED better... i am gonna do the susp then motor mods so i have to get it done right the first time thanks

A 450r for the price.. lol.

But, the most agreed upon setup would be +3" LT arms up front, with Elka piggyback or higher shocks PEP, TCS, etc, and run 4:1 rims for better control. A +2" swinger in the rear, with a shock to match the front end setup and a 2+2 RPM axle.

But if you're gonna spend more then $2000 on a suspension system for the 300ex.. why not upgrade the whole quad? Unless you're wanting to stay in the sport class. But even then your better off with a 250f hybrid.

i guess ur right instead of putting like 2000 in the motor and the same in the susp that it would be better to buy a 250r or a 400 and mod that up

GDH A-arms Lt +3 a-arms. Accepts any 16.25 inch shock (YFZ, 400ex, 250r) Comes with a-arms, balljoints, Tie Rods, & all bolts and nuts needed for 550 bucks. Best 300ex front end on the market. For the money atleast.

nice 550 thats not too bad buit i live in canada so it would be around 8-900 thats still not too bad but where would i get ahold of this kit????

look up gdh racing on ebay (ebay store)

also pm exman

Note: that doesn't include shocks.

A budget setup, you could use an 01 Raptor Rear, and YZF fronts, and get them revalved/resprung for your setup.

Also not including the longer swingarm and wider shocks.

On a budget you could probabably do all the way around for about $1750.

(Those are nice looking a-arms though, and I wouldn't put a Pro-Trax/Walsh system on a 300 anyway.. lol)

could i get the shock relocating brackit and 450r shocks and not a-arms

There were a set of 300ex pro-trax a-arms floating around here somewere that where made for harold goodman, but they were missing the spindles. I called up leager and they priced me like 1,000 bucks just for the spindles.

400ex front suspension is a good way to low budget as well it works well for me i also use a durablue 2+2 axle a 01 raptor rear shock or works should do ya get klaws or holeshots for tires (my personal fav tires) white brothers, big gun, curtis sparks, or hmf pipe other than that its alll about how much your willing to spend o ya stick 2 uni or w/b filters foams are better for mx

could i just get the shock relocating kit and put 450r shocks with stock a-arms

You would have to have one custom made. Most of the shock relocators are designed for 400ex length shocks. The 450r shocks are a little longer.

Posted by: reconmaster

ok so yfz shocks are the same lenght as a 400ex?

Posted by: rm25x

yep.

Just remember any shock you get is going to have to be revalved/resprung to work correctly with the setup. Buying yfz or any other shock and having them rebuilt for your setup will cost as much as a new set of works shocks(if not more). You can have works build a set of economy shocks exactly for the setup for around $340.

But the modded YFZ or 450r shocks would be far better. I like the stock 450r on my 300 better than my pos works.

that sits pretty high up

Heres the red a-arms installed with my old works tripples and 450r stockers, should have some stock yfz shock by the end of the week. He added that support bar behind the the bolt hole to keep them from breaking.

Another

You can also see how he webbed the bolt hole a lot for added strength.

Why would they be stiff. As long as the geometry was made realitivly similar it should feel softer.

A stock 300ex weighs 10-20 lbs more than a 450r. The guys that think they are stiff are probably used to the crappy stock shocks on the 300.

06 300ex = 377 lbs
06 450r (kick) = 357 lbs

My 330 is probably easily pushing 400 lbs full of fuel with the 6-ply tires, heavy rims, skids, oil cooler, nerfs, etc...
