Dose any one out there have or know some one that has one of those new service honda TRX250R i would like to know if they are any good? check it out www.servicehonda.com

The initial review stated some problems but the biggest thing was how bad it vibrated since it is a cr250 motor and doesn't have a counterbalancer.

Posted by: ground_zero298

You can get a clean built 250 for less than half of that one.

Posted by: BLACKeR

and you get the handling of a 400ex, not exactly a good use of money.

Posted by: HAVOK

My buddy got the kit a few months ago after his stroked 500EX motor blew, its very nice it does not vibrated bad at all. The only time you even feel it vibrating is at idel on pavment. His SH250R is very fast. Alot of people never seen one but they know first hand every thing about it and like to bash it on TRX250R forums.

ive never ridden one but talked to a couple peeple that own them. suposedly they are quite nice, they do sit a lil taller then a 250
r but hav far more power and a smoother pwerband then a original R also. and i havent heard any complaints about vibration. the worst thing is prolly that its the stock dirtbike tranny and clutch, so maybe they wouldnt live as long in a quad. guess it depends on how u maintain and ride it. but yes you could find a built original R for the same price

there was a guy on here selling a yellow one..it looked like a real Clean install...as for how it rode I dont have any idea...but I do know the stock 400ex handles like Poop! might as well put a rocket motor on a scooter....

Posted by: robyone

the conversion that havok is speaking of is by now means a stock 400 set up. full LT PEP set up all the way around, ext. swinger, basically the works.

Posted by: coryatver

So if you already have a rolling chassis they will just sell you the motor and what you need to make it work?

Posted by: engle_andrew

they sell the chassis and motor ready to fire up all you need is you 400ex crapp like aarms n shoks and swinarm or you can buy full one but if you got a 400ex all you need is 4500 and you get powdercoated frame with motor intake carb radiator and cables engine will literally run when you get it in chassis also has a bulit forward kickstart and k.n filterbox powerlid procircuit piupe and silencer and hella faster than the original r the original r suks

the cr250 motor might be great.... but a service honda 250r, and a real 250r are 2 way diff things. id take a pv250r over a cr250 anyday

Posted by: Lonestar_R

I have an original 250R and I owned a new 400EX in 2000.....and my 250R walks all over that 400, now I have a new 06 450R and it can't compared to 250R.....Nothing will beat an Original 250R Ever......

Posted by: robyone

I agree, I'm a R owner & would take a 310 PV over anything. but I think the thread is about the quality of the service honda 250r, which I think is greatly under estimated. sure it's expensive, but I think anyone with decked out 400ex that is sick of their air cooled, out dated power plant, should pick up one of these 2 stroke conversions.
plus there are not enough 2 strokes out there anymore, their easy to work on & respond better to mods than 4 strokes.

If I had a 400EX roller I would consider the kit. I'm sure its a nice setup. They make some sweet custom rides like their CR500 in a CR250 frame. The kit is definetely alot of money though and I cant see them selling that many.

The motor is already in the frame when you get it.

Of course the 250R will smoke a 400EX, we are talking about a CR250R motor in a 400EX frame.

Posted by: 250r4life

what the crap is this andrew guy talking about saying the original 250r sucks? if that is what you really meant to say/mean i would ask how many times you were dropped on your head as a child, but if not, my apolagies... 4500 seems like an awful lot for just a kit, especially when you have to supply a bunch of your own crap... im pretty sure with that much money you could get a sweet 250r that would smoke teh 400ex conversion...

Posted by: baker250r

no, i do know wut I am talking about. I have saw one of these cr250 quads in person, and i do have to say. they look preaty gay. they might be powerfull with the dirtbike motor, but ur not going to get the respect that you get if u have a true 250r. and they more than likely do not hold value worth a dayum.

but i mean in my personal experiene on a mx track a 250 r does not trak good at all and will blow up all the time.and id rather be able to finish a race than make 2 fast sounding laps .maybe in a drag race but on dirt my syock 400 beat a 250 r with a pipe in a drag race .

Sure it did. I also have to say 250r's are very reliable as long as you know how to build it.

doesnt track good.... the are the best handling quad to be built as of yet. if tuned properly and with a proper airfilter a piston will last a long time, especially if you dont abuse it. and theres no way a stock 400ex will beat a 250r with a pipe, unless the rider hasnt tuned it properely (which will lead it to blow up). your just a moron, you need to put down the crack pipe, and do us all a favor and stfu.

maybe ill shove a bar of saop in your 10 year old mouth im entitled to my opinion so grow up. by the way you like dove or irish spring.

ha ha ha ha... i appreciated the last couple posts... funny stuff... what are you talking about 250rs are reliable? mine is only 16 years old, and the engine was 100% original until this year and still ran like a champ, i just wanted a little more... i never was unable to get it to start or run great, never broke anything major- well, i bent the stem and my bars a few times, and oh, i have the pipe springs holding my pipe together break every once in a while... oh, and my friend has an 88 that the engine is also untouched... 16, 17 years of reliability, not quite enough, lets wait a few more years before we can call the Rs reliable...

THERE IT IS!

ha ha ha... andrew is a whole 3 years older than esr250 and hes calling him a little kid... "oh yah esr250, you may have a better bike than my 400ex and you may know more about bikes, but your language stincks and youre not very nice." ha ha

Posted by: deathman53

I can't see them selling that many of them at $8500, I bought my crf450r qyad with just about everything aftermarket, long travel, no-link, for 9g's. But $8500 for a stock suspension bike, I think not. They do sell alot of the cr500f though, pro-circuit even makes a pipe for it. The cr500f is a real nice bik, power of the 500, handling of the 250.
