OK what characheristics make up a good dune quad other than alot of power. I dont really know. I know a banshhe is good but i need more insite.

You just cant beat banshees in sand. Its about the only place they hook up. And its not very hard to get 50+ hp out of them.

It depends on what you are doing. I like to do the natural doubles out in the dunes. For me the R is king, nothin jumps better and I got plenty of power. I currently running a 295 big bore and am gonna have it ported. IT keeps up with modded banshees now and it didn't cost that much for the 295 kit(450 from CT). But for casual ridding a banshee with shocks is great and for hill shooting it can't be beat. I am getting ready to build a "sleepper" drag banshee just for hillshooting. Next year if you see a stock looing banshee on the OR coast that is sitting at the bottom of the hill don't bother

You guys are right, the banshee is the king and it will beat almost any quad up any hill but i've gotta go for the 250r because when it come to jumping in the dunes theres nothing better.

Same for me...if you see one with a flames grill, cut front fenders, and toomeys. With a stock swingarm and 8 paddle haulers that seems to smell like alcohol...stay away. very far away.
It helps to have good handling in the dunes sometimes, but for the most part wheelspin (banshee) is key. If you have wheelspin, and alot of it, you can do about anything.

I think any bike that you can have fun on makes a good dune quad. But if you want to have lots of fun, riping out of deep holes, going threw the trees get a 2-stroke. There are some great 4-strokes dont get me wrong I have one but I have lots more fun on my R.

banshees are fast, which is good for drags, but the center of gravity is too high. they felt awkward to me, almost like you were going to tip over, not a good feeling when you are coming up over a razorback. i have talked to a lot of people who think this also. i like having the two stroke in the sand as opposed to a four, and of course i'm partial to the R since i own one.
