Hey all. I just got my 06 and so far I love it. It feels like a totally different bike from just the small rides I,ve done on it so far. I was curious about the header pipe getting so hot! It turns red about 8 to 10 in. down the pipe . My 04 didnt do this. What do ya think?I havnt even rode it in the woods yet , just down the street ,trying to break it in.

lean from the factory.
take your baffle out.

Taking the baffle out would lean it out even more.

Try turning up the mixture screw a little bit to richen it up. A bigger pilot might not be a bad idea.

and just throw a bigger jet in it. 5 bucks and 5 minutes and your problems solved. i suspected it was already jetted, thats why i said take the baffle out.

even in totally stock form, the jetting is lean from the factory????what should i bump it up too?

when my 05 was bone stock, i went from a 118 stock, to a 125 with the baffle out. much better.

is it red at idle, part throttle or full throttle?

Posted by: wanna_be_ridn

My 06 does it only at full throttle not at an idle, but thats normal for full throttle.

It seems to be anytime. I think it may be too lean also. I have a 178 main jet , maybe Ill throw it in,uncork the exhaust ,turn out the mixture screw and see how it runs.

I noticed mine glowing orange while idling the other night. The idle is also sort of sporatic. I'm going to try tinkering with the mixture screw tonight if I can. I think it's too lean cause if you blip the throttle it idles a little high for a few seconds before dropping down to too low of an idle.

Mine glows just into the bend at idle. All the way around the bend after riding hard. I think it's normal? It runs great except occasionally it dies if I blip the throttle. The HRC kit had me turn the pilot screw IN 1/2 turn. Does that make it richer or leaner on the FCR??? BTW...it seems to glow less with HRC installed.

I'm pretty sure that makes you leaner, but don't take my word for it.

Where the heck is the mixture screw?? I looked on both sides of the carb and all I could find was a flathead screw at the bottom of the carb. Isn't that one for draining it?

Posted by: Transplant2

It's flush with the bowl...you need the d-shaped tool to adjust it. Or you can take the bowl off and turn it with fingers/pliers. Just look/feel around the bowl edge and you will find the hole that leads to the screw. I think it was on the intake side.

I was saying the same thing. The air/fuel mixture screw is in the front of your carb towards the engine. It is not a screw by the way it is a gold 1/2 moon type shape. Hope that helps! yes the other screw drains the bowl.
